10:1 Եւ [189]այլազգիք պատերազմեցան ընդ Իսրայելի, եւ [190]փախեան յերեսաց այլազգեացն, եւ անկան վիրաւորք ի լերինս Գեղբուայ:

10:1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa:
|
10:2 Եւ պնդեցան այլազգիքն զհետ Սաւուղայ եւ զհետ որդւոցն նորա, եւ հարին այլազգիքն զՅովնաթան եւ զԱբինադաբ եւ զՄեղքիսաւէ զորդիսն Սաւուղայ:
|
10:2 And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi- shua, the sons of Saul:
|
10:3 Եւ ծանրացաւ պատերազմն ի վերայ Սաւուղայ, եւ գտին զնա աղեղնաւորք աղեղամբք [191]եւ ցաւովք``, եւ [192]վտանգեցաւ յաղեղանցն:
|
10:3 And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers:
|
10:4 Եւ ասէ Սաւուղ ցկապարճակիրն իւր. Ձգեա զսուր քո եւ խոցեա զիս դովաւ, մի՛ գուցէ եկեսցեն անթլփատքն այնոքիկ եւ խաղասցեն ինեւ: Եւ ոչ կամեցաւ կապարճակիրն նորա, վասն զի երկեաւ յոյժ. եւ ա՛ռ Սաւուղ զսուրն, եւ անկաւ ի վերայ նորա:

10:4 Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it:
|
10:5 Եւ ետես կապարճակիրն նորա եթէ մեռաւ Սաւուղ, անկաւ եւ նա ի վերայ սրոյն իւրոյ եւ մեռաւ:
|
10:5 And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died:
|
10:6 Եւ մեռան Սաւուղ եւ երեքին որդիքն իւր [193]յաւուր յայնմիկ``, եւ ամենայն տուն նորա միանգամայն մեռան:
|
10:6 So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together:
|
10:7 Եւ ետես ամենայն այր Իսրայելի որք [194]ի հանգրուանսն էին, եթէ փախեաւ Իսրայէլ եւ եթէ մեռան Սաւուղ եւ որդիք նորա, թողին զքաղաքս իւրեանց եւ փախեան, եւ եկին այլազգիքն եւ բնակեցան ի նոսա:

10:7 And when all the men of Israel that [were] in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them:
|
10:8 Եւ եղեւ ի վաղիւն եկին այլազգիքն կողոպտել զվիրաւորսն, եւ գտին զՍաւուղ եւ զորդիս նորա անկեալս ի լերինն Գեղբուայ:
|
10:8 And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa:
|
10:9 մերկացուցին զնա, եւ առին զգլուխ նորա եւ զզէն նորա, եւ առաքեցին յերկիրն այլազգեաց շուրջանակի աւետարանել կռոցն իւրեանց եւ ժողովրդեանն:
|
10:9 And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people:
|
10:10 Եւ եդին զզէն նորա ի տան աստուածոյն իւրեանց. եւ զգլուխ նորա [195]եդին ի տան Դագոնայ:
|
10:10 And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon:
|
10:11 Եւ լուան ամենեքեան որ բնակեալ էին [196]ի Գաղաադ զոր ինչ արարին այլազգիքն ընդ Սաւուղ [197]եւ ընդ Իսրայէլ:
|
10:11 And when all Jabesh- gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul:
|
10:12 եւ յարեան [198]ի Գաղաադէ ամենայն արք զօրաւորք, եւ առին զմարմինն Սաւուղայ եւ զմարմինս որդւոց նորա, եւ բերին ի Յաբիս եւ թաղեցին զոսկերս նոցա ընդ կաղնեաւն ի Յաբիս, եւ պահեցին աւուրս եւթն:

10:12 They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days:
|
10:13 Եւ մեռաւ Սաւուղ յանօրէնութիւնսն իւր զորս անօրինեցաւ ի Տէր, ըստ բանին Տեառն զի ոչ պահեաց. [199]վասն զի`` եհարց Սաւուղ վհկաւն խնդրել, [200]եւ պատասխանի արար նմա Սամուէլ մարգարէ:

10:13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, [even] against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking [counsel] of [one that had] a familiar spirit, to enquire:
|
10:14 եւ ոչ խնդրեաց զՏէր. եւ սպան զնա, եւ դարձոյց զթագաւորութիւնն` Դաւթի որդւոյ Յեսսեայ:
|
10:14 And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse:
