Եւ ’ի թագաւորութեանն Կիւրոսի Պարսից` յամին առաջնում կատարեցաւ բանն Տեառն, զոր խօսեցաւ ’ի բերան Երեմիայի մարգարէի[19]:

In the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians, that the word of the Lord might be accomplished, that he had promised by the mouth of Jeremy:
2:2
Եւ յարոյց Տէր զոգի Կիւրոսի թագաւորին Պարսից. եւ հրամայեաց Կիւրոս յամենայն թագաւորութեան իւրում քարո՛զ կարդալ` եւ ասել[20]:

The Lord raised up the spirit of Cyrus the king of the Persians, and he made proclamation through all his kingdom, and also by writing:
2:3
Ա՛յսպէս ասէ թագաւորն Պարսից Կիւրոս. Ինձ յայտնեաց թագաւորն ամենայն տիեզերաց տէր Աստուած Իսրայէլի, Տէր բարձրեալ:
2:3
Saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of the Persians; The Lord of Israel, the most high Lord, hath made me king of the whole world:
2:4
եւ նշանակեալ յայտնեաց ինձ, շինե՛լ նմա տաճար յԵրուսաղէմ Հրէաստանի:
2:4
And commanded me to build him an house at Jerusalem in Jewry:
2:5
Արդ` ո ոք եւ իցէ՛ եւ կայցէ առ նմա յազգացն հրէից. եւ տէր Աստուած եղիցի ընդ նմա. եւ ելեալ յԵրուսաղէմ ընդ հրէայսն շինեսցէ զտաճարն տեառն Աստուծոյ Իսրայէլի. ա՛յս է Տէր, որ բնակէն յԵրուսաղէմ[21]:

If therefore there be any of you that are of his people, let the Lord, even his Lord, be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem that is in Judea, and build the house of the Lord of Israel: for he is the Lord that dwelleth in Jerusalem:
2:6
եւ ամենայն ոք որ յիւրաքանչիւր տեղիս բնակեալ են, օգնեսցե՛ն նոցա ոսկւով եւ արծաթով:
2:6
Whosoever then dwell in the places about, let them help him, those, I say, that are his neighbours, with gold, and with silver:
2:7
ձիովք եւ ամենայն խաշամբք, եւ ամենայն կազմածովք իւրեանց նուիրեսցեն ’ի տաճարն տեառն Աստուծոյ յԵրուսաղէմ[22]:
2:7
With gifts, with horses, and with cattle, and other things, which have been set forth by vow, for the temple of the Lord at Jerusalem:
2:8
Եւ կացցեն իշխանք ըստ ազգացն եւ հայրապետաց ազգին Յուդայ, եւ ցեղին Բենիամինի, եւ քահանայիցն եւ ղեւտացւոց. եւ ամենեցուն զորոց զարթոյց Տէր զոգիս նոցա, ելանե՛լ եւ շինել զտունն Տեառն յԵրուսաղէմ եւ շուրջ զնոքօք:
2:8
Then the chief of the families of Judea and of the tribe of Benjamin stood up; the priests also, and the Levites, and all they whose mind the Lord had moved to go up, and to build an house for the Lord at Jerusalem:
2:9
օգնեսցեն ամենեքեան արծաթով եւ ոսկւով, ձիովք եւ խաշամբք, ուխտեսցեն Տեառն որչափ եւ ’ի միտս իւրեանց անկցի:
2:9
And they that dwelt round about them, and helped them in all things with silver and gold, with horses and cattle, and with very many free gifts of a great number whose minds were stirred up thereto:
2:10
Եւ թագաւորն Կիւրոս` ե՛տ բերել զսուրբ սպասն Տեառն, զոր բերեալ էր Նաբուքոդոնոսորայ յԵրուսաղէմէ, եւ եդեալ էր ’ի պա՛հ ’ի տան կռոցն իւրոց:

King Cyrus also brought forth the holy vessels, which Nabuchodonosor had carried away from Jerusalem, and had set up in his temple of idols:
2:11
ե՛տ բերել Կիւրոս թագաւոր Պարսից, եւ հրամայեաց տա՛լ զսպասն Միթրիդատայ գանձաւորի իւրոյ:

Now when Cyrus king of the Persians had brought them forth, he delivered them to Mithridates his treasurer:
2:12
եւ համարեալ Միթրիդատայ` ե՛տ ցՍամանասար հանդերձապետ Յուդայ:
2:12
And by him they were delivered to Sanabassar the governor of Judea:
2:13
Եւ ա՛յս էր թիւ սպասու կահուն Տեառն. սպաս ոսկեղէն հազար, եւ սպաս արծաթի էր հազար. խմբարդեայք արծաթիք քսանեւինն, եւ ափսէք ոսկիք երեսուն, եւ արծաթիք երկու հազար չորեքհարիւր քսան. եւ ա՛յլ կահ հազար[23]:

And this was the number of them; A thousand golden cups, and a thousand of silver, censers of silver twenty nine, vials of gold thirty, and of silver two thousand four hundred and ten, and a thousand other vessels:

իսկ ամենայն կահն զոր բերին ոսկի եւ արծաթի, հինգ հազար չորեքհարիւր վաթսունեւինն:
2:14
So all the vessels of gold and of silver, which were carried away, were five thousand four hundred threescore and nine:
2:15
Եւ տուեալ զայս ամենայն ’ի ձեռս Սամանասարայ` առեալ հանդերձ ամենայն գերութեամբ հանէին ’ի Բաբելոնէ յԵրուսաղէմ:

These were brought back by Sanabassar, together with them of the captivity, from Babylon to Jerusalem:

’Ի ժամանակս թագաւորութեանն Արտաշէսի Պարսից արքայի, գրեցին առ նա որք բնակեալ էին շուրջ զՀրէաստանիւ եւ զԵրուսաղէմաւ. Բաաղսամոս, եւ Միթրիդատ, եւ Բեղ’ղ’իոս, եւ Հռաթիմոս, եւ Բեղ’տէթմոս, եւ Սամեղ’իոս գրիչ. եւ ա՛յլ եւս բազումք ընդ նոսա, որք բնակեալք էին առ ծովեզերբն` Քանանացիք եւ Տիւրացիք, Ամոնացիք եւ Մովաբացիք, եւ Շամրտացիք, եւ այլք բազումք ետեղակալք. գրեցին թուղթ` զա՛յս օրինակ[24]:

But in the time of Artexerxes king of the Persians Belemus, and Mithridates, and Tabellius, and Rathumus, and Beeltethmus, and Semellius the secretary, with others that were in commission with them, dwelling in Samaria and other places, wrote unto him against them that dwelt in Judea and Jerusalem these letters following:

Թագաւոր Արտաշէս տէ՛ր մեր, ծառայք քո, Հռաթիմոս` որ երկրպագէ քեզ, եւ Սամեղ’իոս գրիչ, եւ ամենայն խորհրդակիցք մեր, եւ դատաւորք կողմանց Ասորւոց եւ Քանանացւոց:

To king Artexerxes our lord, Thy servants, Rathumus the storywriter, and Semellius the scribe, and the rest of their council, and the judges that are in Celosyria and Phenice:
2:18
Ա՛յժմ գիտո՛ւն լիցի քեզ տէր մեր եւ թագաւոր, վասն հրէիցն որ ելին ’ի ձէնջ առ մեզ, երթեալ յԵրուսաղէմ ’ի քաղաքն ապստամբող եւ դառնացող. եւ շինեն զնա եւ զհրապարակս նորա, եւ զպարիսպս նորա կամին ամրացուցանել. եւ զտաճարն նորա կամին բարձրաբե՛րձ շինել[25]:

Be it now known to the lord king, that the Jews that are up from you to us, being come into Jerusalem, that rebellious and wicked city, do build the marketplaces, and repair the walls of it and do lay the foundation of the temple:
2:19
արդ` եթէ զքաղաքս զայս շինեսցեն, եւ զպարիսպ նորա կատարեսցեն. հարկս` ումեք ո՛չ հարկանեն, այլ եւ թագաւորաց եւս ընդդէ՛մ կան[26]:
2:19
Now if this city and the walls thereof be made up again, they will not only refuse to give tribute, but also rebel against kings:
2:20
քանզի պանծացեալ յուսա՛ն ’ի տաճարն իւրեանց: Արդ` բարւո՛ք թուեցաւ մեզ, եթէ փոյթ արասցես ա՛յսմ իրաց:
2:20
And forasmuch as the things pertaining to the temple are now in hand, we think it meet not to neglect such a matter:
2:21
տէ՛ր մեր թագաւոր, եւ փորձեալ տեսցես զոր գրեցին հարք քո եւ նախնիք:
2:21
But to speak unto our lord the king, to the intent that, if it be thy pleasure it may be sought out in the books of thy fathers:
2:22
եւ գտցես գիր յիշատակարանաց. եւ գիտասցես թէ քաղաքս այս` ապստամբողաց է. եւ թագաւորք սորա:
2:22
And thou shalt find in the chronicles what is written concerning these things, and shalt understand that that city was rebellious, troubling both kings and cities:
2:23
եւ հրէայք ապստամբօղք, եւ ստերդմունք բնակիչք սորա յաւիտեան. վասն որոյ եւ քաղաքս այս` աւերեալ անապա՛տ եղեւ:
2:23
And that the Jews were rebellious, and raised always wars therein; for the which cause even this city was made desolate:
2:24
Արդ` ցուցանեմք տեառն մերոյ եւ թագաւորի, եթէ քաղաքս այս շինեսցի, եւ պարիսպք նորա կանգնեսցին` քո իշխանութիւն եւ ճանապարհ ’ի կողմանս Ասորւոց եւ Քանանացւոց ո՛չ եւս լիցի[27]:

Wherefore now we do declare unto thee, O lord the king, that if this city be built again, and the walls thereof set up anew, thou shalt from henceforth have no passage into Celosyria and Phenice:
2:25
Յայնժամ գրեա՛ց Արտաշէս թագաւոր, Հռաթեմու, եւ Բեղ’տեթմու, եւ Սամեղ’ի գրչի, եւ այլոց ամենեցուն որ բնակեալ են ’ի կողմանս Սամարիայ, եւ Ասորւոց եւ Քանանացւոց որք գրեցին առ նա[28]:

Then the king wrote back again to Rathumus the storywriter, to Beeltethmus, to Semellius the scribe, and to the rest that were in commission, and dwellers in Samaria and Syria and Phenice, after this manner:

Կարդացի ասէ զթուղթն ձեր զոր գրեցէք առ իս, եւ հրամայեցի տեսանել ’ի մատեանս յիշատակարանաց. եւ գտաւ քաղաքդ այդ յիսկզբանցն եւ ’ի յաւիտեանց` ընդդէմ ամենայն թագաւորաց:

I have read the epistle which ye have sent unto me: therefore I commanded to make diligent search, and it hath been found that that city was from the beginning practising against kings:
2:27
եւ երկնային պատերազմօղք ընդ ամենայն կողմանս որ բնակեալ էին ’ի դմա. եւ թագաւորք զօրաւորք եւ խիստք, որք բնակեալ էին յԵրուսաղէմ, տիրացեալք հա՛րկս հանէին ’ի կողմանցն Ասորւոց եւ Քանանացւոց[29]:

And the men therein were given to rebellion and war: and that mighty kings and fierce were in Jerusalem, who reigned and exacted tributes in Celosyria and Phenice:
2:28
Արդ` այժմ հրամայեցի արգելո՛ւլ զարսդ զայդ ’ի շինելոյ զքաղաքդ. եւ դուք փո՛յթ յանձին կալայք:
2:28
Now therefore I have commanded to hinder those men from building the city, and heed to be taken that there be no more done in it:
2:29
զի մի՛ եւս առաւելեսցի չարութիւն դոցա` եւ ընդդիմասցին, եւ աշխատեսցեն զթագաւորութիւնս մեր[30]:
2:29
And that those wicked workers proceed no further to the annoyance of kings:
2:30
Եւ յա՛յնժամ կարդացեալ զգիր թագաւորին Արտաշիսի, Հռաթիմոս, եւ Սամեղ’ գրիչ, եւ այլք բազումք ընդ նոսա, ելի՛ն փութով յԵրուսաղէմ երիվարօք եւ զօրօք հանդերձ:

Then king Artexerxes his letters being read, Rathumus, and Semellius the scribe, and the rest that were in commission with them, removing in haste toward Jerusalem with a troop of horsemen and a multitude of people in battle array:
2:31
եւ արգելին զհրէայսն ’ի շինելոյ: Եւ խափանեցաւ շինուած տաճարին Տեառն յԵրուսաղէմ մինչեւ յերկրորդ ամ թագաւորութեան Դարեհի Պարսից արքայի:

KJV [30] began to hinder the builders; and the building of the temple in Jerusalem ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of the Persians:
