24:1 Եւ յարեաւ Դաւիթ անտի եւ նստաւ յանձուկս [450]Գադդայ:

24:1 KJV [23.29] And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at En- gedi:

24:2 Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ դարձաւ Սաւուղ յայլազգեացն, ազդ եղեւ նմա եւ ասեն. Ահաւանիկ Դաւիթ յանապատին [451]Գադդայ է:

24:2 KJV [1] And it came to pass, KJV [2] when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David [is] in the wilderness of En- gedi:

24:3 Եւ [452]առ ընդ իւր`` երիս հազարս արանց ընտրելոց յամենայն Իսրայելէ, եւ գնաց խնդրել զԴաւիթ եւ զարս նորա, [453]հանդէպ Ելիմայ որսոյն եղջերուաց:

24:3 KJV [2] Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats:

24:4 Եւ եկն ի պառակս հօտիցն որ առ ճանապարհաւն. եւ անդ էր այր մի, եւ եմուտ Սաւուղ հանգչել. եւ Դաւիթ եւ արք նորա նստէին ի ներքնում այրին:

24:4 KJV [3] And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where [was] a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave:

24:5 Եւ ասեն արքն Դաւթի ցնա. Ահա այս օր է, զորմէ ասաց Տէր ցքեզ մատնել զթշնամիս քո ի ձեռս քո. եւ արասցես ընդ նա որպէս հաճոյ թուի յաչս քո: Եւ յարեաւ Դաւիթ եւ եհատ զտտուն լօդկին Սաւուղայ գաղտ:

24:5 KJV [4] And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul' s robe privily:

24:6 Եւ եղեւ յետ այնորիկ զղջացոյց զԴաւիթ սիրտն իւր, զի եհատ զտտուն լօդկի նորա:

24:6 KJV [5] And it came to pass afterward, that David' s heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul' s skirt:
|
24:7 Եւ ասէ Դաւիթ ցարս իւր. Քաւ լիցի ինձ ի Տեառնէ, թէ արարից զբանդ զայդ տեառն իմում օծելոյ Տեառն, մխել ի նա զձեռս իմ. զի օծեալ Տեառն է նա:

24:7 KJV [6] And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD' S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he [is] the anointed of the LORD:

24:8 Եւ հաճեաց Դաւիթ զարսն իւր բանիւք, եւ ոչ ետ նոցա յառնել եւ սպանանել զՍաւուղ. եւ Սաւուղ յարեաւ յայրէ անտի եւ էջ ի ճանապարհն:

24:8 KJV [7] So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on [his] way:

24:9 Եւ յարեաւ Դաւիթ զկնի նորա ել յայրէ անտի, եւ աղաղակեաց Դաւիթ զհետ նորա եւ ասէ. Տէր իմ արքայ: Եւ հայեցաւ Սաւուղ ի թիկունս իւր. եւ անկաւ Դաւիթ ի վերայ երեսաց իւրոց յերկիր, եւ եպագ նմա երկիր:

24:9 KJV [8] David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself:

24:10 Եւ ասէ Դաւիթ ցՍաւուղ. Ընդէ՞ր լսես բանից ժողովրդեանն որ ասեն թէ` Դաւիթ խնդրէ [454]զանձն քո:

24:10 KJV [9] And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men' s words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt:
|
24:11 Ահա յաւուր յայսմիկ տեսին աչք քո, ո՛րպէս մատնեաց զքեզ Տէր այսօր ի ձեռս իմ յայրի անդ, եւ [455]ոչ կամեցայ սպանանել`` զքեզ. եւ խնայեցի ի քեզ, եւ ասացի թէ` Ոչ ձգեցից զձեռն իմ ի տէր իմ. զի օծեալ Տեառն է նա:

24:11 KJV [10] Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and [some] bade [me] kill thee: but [mine eye] spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he [is] the LORD' S anointed:

24:12 Եւ տես, հայր իմ, ահա տտուն լօդկի քո ի ձեռին իմում. ես հատի զտտուն հանդերձի քո, եւ ոչ սպանի զքեզ. եւ ծանիր եւ տես [456]այսօր, զի ոչ գոյ ի ձեռին իմում չարութիւն եւ ոչ արհամարհութիւն եւ ոչ ամպարշտութիւն, եւ ոչ մեղայ ինչ քեզ. եւ դու պաշարես զանձն իմ առնուլ զնա:

24:12 KJV [11] Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that [there is] neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it:

24:13 Դատ արասցէ Տէր ընդ իս եւ ընդ քեզ. եւ առցէ Տէր զվրէժ իմ ի քէն, եւ ձեռն իմ մի՛ եղիցի ի քեզ:

24:13 KJV [12] The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee:

24:14 Որպէս ասէ հին առասպելն. Յանօրէն ձեռաց ելցէ վնաս, եւ ձեռն իմ մի՛ եղիցի ի քեզ:

24:14 KJV [13] As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee:

24:15 Եւ արդ զո՞յր հետ ելեալ ես, արքայդ Իսրայելի, եւ զո՞ հալածես. զհետ շան միոյ մեռելոյ եւ զհետ լուոյ միոյ:

24:17 Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ կատարեաց Դաւիթ խօսել զբանս զայսոսիկ ընդ Սաւուղայ, եւ ասէ Սաւուղ. Այդ քո՞ ձայն իցէ, որդեակ իմ Դաւիթ: Եւ ամբարձ Սաւուղ զձայն իւր եւ ելաց:

24:17 KJV [16] And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, [Is] this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept:

24:18 Եւ ասէ Սաւուղ ցԴաւիթ. Դու արդար ես քան զիս. զի դու հատուցեր ինձ բարիս, եւ ես հատուցի քեզ չարիս:

24:18 KJV [17] And he said to David, Thou [art] more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil:

24:19 Եւ դու պատմեցեր ինձ այսօր զոր արարեր ինձ բարիս, եւ թէ ո՛րպէս փակեաց զիս Տէր այսօր ի ձեռս քո եւ ոչ սպաներ զիս:

24:19 KJV [18] And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not:
|
24:20 Զի որպէս գտանէ ոք զթշնամի իւր [457]ի նեղութեան, եւ արձակիցէ զնա բարեաւ ընդ ճանապարհ, եւ Տէր հատուսցէ [458]նմա բարիս. որպէս դու արարեր [459]այսօր:

24:20 KJV [19] For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day:

24:21 Եւ արդ գիտեմ զի թագաւորելով թագաւորեսցես, եւ հաստատեսցի ի ձեռս քո թագաւորութիւնն Իսրայելի:

24:21 KJV [20] And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand:

24:22 Եւ արդ երդուիր ինձ ի Տէր, զի մի՛ սատակեսցես զզաւակ իմ զկնի իմ, եւ մի՛ եղծցես զանուն իմ ի տանէ հօր իմոյ:

24:22 KJV [21] Swear now therefore unto me by the LORD, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father' s house:

24:23 Եւ երդուաւ Դաւիթ Սաւուղայ: Եւ գնաց Սաւուղ ի տեղի իւր, եւ Դաւիթ եւ արք իւր [460]եկին ի Մասարա`` յանձուկն:

24:23 KJV [22] And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold:
