Եւ ասեն որդիք մարգարէիցն ցԵղիսէ. Ահաւասիկ տեղիս յորում մեք [73]բնակեմք` նեղ է մեզ:

And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us:
6:2
Երթիցուք մինչեւ ցՅորդանան, եւ առցուք անտի այր իւրաքանչիւր գերան մի, եւ արասցուք մեզ անդ բնակութիւն: Եւ ասէ. Երթայք:
6:2
Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye:
6:3
Եւ ասէ մի ոմն. [74]Եկ եւ դու մեղմով երթիցես`` ընդ ծառայս քո: Եւ նա ասէ. Ես եկից:
6:3
And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go:
6:4
Եւ գնաց ընդ նոսա. եւ չոգան ի Յորդանան, եւ հարկանէին փայտ:
6:4
So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood:
6:5
Եւ ահա մին մինչդեռ ընկենոյր զհեծանն, անկաւ երկաթն ի ջուրն. եւ վայեաց, եւ ասէ. Ո՛հ, տէր, եւ զայն յանօթ առեալ էր:
6:5
But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed:
6:6
Եւ ասէ այրն Աստուծոյ. Յո՞ր վայր անկաւ: Եւ եցոյց նմա զտեղին. եւ ճեղքեաց փայտ եւ ընկէց անդր, եւ ի վեր եկաց երկաթն:

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast [it] in thither; and the iron did swim:
6:7
եւ ասէ. Վերացո քեզէն: Եւ ձգեաց զձեռն իւր եւ առ զնա:
6:7
Therefore said he, Take [it] up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it:
6:8
Եւ արքայն Ասորւոց տայր պատերազմ ընդ Իսրայելի. խորհեցաւ ընդ ծառայս իւր եւ ասէ. [75]Ի տեղի մի յելմոնի`` բանակեցայց ի դարանի:
6:8
Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place [shall be] my camp:
6:9
Եւ առաքեաց [76]Եղիսէ առ արքայն Իսրայելի եւ ասէ. Զգոյշ լեր, գուցէ անցանիցես ընդ այն տեղի, զի անդ թաքուցեալ նստին Ասորիք:
6:9
And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down:
6:10
Եւ առաքեաց արքայն Իսրայելի ի տեղին զոր ասաց նմա [77]Եղիսէ, եւ դարանայոյզ արար զնա, եւ զգուշացաւ անտի ոչ մի անգամ եւ ոչ երկիցս:
6:10
And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice:
6:11
Եւ զայրացաւ անձն արքային Ասորւոց վասն բանին այնորիկ, եւ կոչեաց զծառայս իւր եւ ասէ ցնոսա. Ո՞չ պատմէք ինձ, եթէ ո՛ մատնէ զիս արքային Իսրայելի:
6:11
Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us [is] for the king of Israel:
6:12
Եւ ասէ մի ոմն ի ծառայից նորա. Ոչ, տէր իմ արքայ. այլ Եղիսէ մարգարէ յԻսրայելի պատմէ արքայի Իսրայելի զամենայն զբանս քո զոր խօսեսցիս ի սենեկի քնոյ քո:

And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that [is] in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber:
6:13
Եւ ասէ. Երթայք տեսէք ուր իցէ նա, եւ առաքեցից ըմբռնեցից զնա: Եւ պատմեցին նմա եւ ասեն. Ահաւանիկ ի Դովթայիմ է:

And he said, Go and spy where he [is], that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, [he is] in Dothan:
6:14
Եւ առաքեաց անդր կառս եւ երիվարս եւ զօր ծանր. եւ եկին գիշերի եւ պատեցին զքաղաքն:
6:14
Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about:
6:15
Եւ կանխեաց յառնել [78]ի պաշտօն Եղիսէ, եւ ել գնաց``. եւ ահա զօր պատեալ էր զքաղաքաւն, եւ երիվարք եւ կառք. եւ ասէ ցնա պատանեակն. [79]Տէր, զի՞ գործեսցուք:
6:15
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do:
6:16
Եւ ասէ Եղիսէ. Մի՛ երկնչիր, զի ընդ մեզ բազումք են քան ընդ նոսա:
6:16
And he answered, Fear not: for they that [be] with us [are] more than they that [be] with them:
6:17
Եւ եկաց յաղօթս Եղիսէ եւ ասէ. Տէր, բաց զաչս պատանեկիս եւ տեսցէ: Եւ եբաց Տէր զաչս նորա, եւ ետես եւ ահա լեառնն լի էր ձիովք եւ հրեղէն կառօք շուրջ զԵղիսէիւ:
6:17
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha:
6:18
Եւ իջին առ նա. եւ եկաց յաղօթս Եղիսէ առ Տէր եւ ասէ. Հար զազգդ զայդ շլացութեամբ: Եւ եհար զնոսա շլացութեամբ ըստ բանին Եղիսէի:
6:18
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha:
6:19
Եւ ասէ ցնոսա Եղիսէ. Ոչ այս ճանապարհ է եւ ոչ այս քաղաք. եկայք զկնի իմ եւ տարայց զձեզ առ այրն զոր խնդրէք: Եւ տարաւ զնոսա ի Սամարիա:
6:19
And Elisha said unto them, This [is] not the way, neither [is] this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria:
6:20
Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ եմուտ ի Սամարիա, ասէ Եղիսէ. Բաց, Տէր, զաչս նոցա եւ տեսցեն: Եւ եբաց Տէր զաչս նոցա եւ տեսին, եւ ահա էին ի մէջ Սամարիայ:

And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these [men], that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, [they were] in the midst of Samaria:
6:21
Իբրեւ ետես զնոսա արքայն Իսրայելի, ասէ ցԵղիսէ, եթէ` Հարկանելով հարի՞ց զդոսա, հայր:
6:21
And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite [them]? shall I smite:
6:22
Եւ ասէ. Մի՛ հարկաներ, [80]բայց եթէ զայնոսիկ զոր գերեսցես սրով քով եւ աղեղամբ քով` հարկանիցես``. դիր հաց եւ ջուր առաջի դոցա, եւ կերիցեն եւ արբցեն եւ երթիցեն առ տէր իւրեանց:
6:22
And he answered, Thou shalt not smite [them]: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master:
6:23
Եւ [81]արկ առաջի նոցա խոտս տակաւ մեծաւ`` եւ կերան եւ արբին. եւ արձակեաց զնոսա, եւ գնացին առ տէր իւրեանց. եւ ոչ եւս յաւելին մեկնակազէնքն Ասորւոց գալ յերկիրն Իսրայելի:
6:23
And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel:
6:24
Եւ եղեւ յետ այնորիկ, ժողովեաց [82]որդի Ադերայ`` արքայ Ասորւոց զամենայն զբանակն իւր, եւ ել նստաւ զՍամարեաւ:
6:24
And it came to pass after this, that Ben- hadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria:
6:25
Եւ եղեւ սով մեծ ի Սամարիա, եւ նստէին զնովաւ, մինչեւ եղեւ խալամ իշոյ [83]յիսուն սկեղ արծաթոյ, եւ չորրորդ կապճի աղբոյ աղաւնեաց` [84]յիսուն եւ`` հինգ արծաթոյ:
6:25
And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass' s head was [sold] for fourscore [pieces] of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove' s dung for five [pieces] of silver:
6:26
Եւ արքայ Իսրայելի շրջէր ի վերայ պարսպին. եւ կին մի աղաղակեաց առ նա եւ ասէ. Ապրեցո զիս, տէր արքայ:
6:26
And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king:
6:27
Եւ ասէ. [85]Մի՛ ապրեցուսցէ զքեզ Տէր, ուստի՞ ապրեցուցից զքեզ, ի կալո՞յ թէ ի հնձանէ:
6:27
And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress:
6:28
Եւ ասէ ցնա արքայ. Զի՞ է քեզ: Եւ ասէ. Կինս այս ասաց ցիս. Տուր զորդիդ քո եւ կերիցուք զդա այսօր, եւ զորդիս զիմ կերիցուք առ վաղիւ:
6:28
And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow:
6:29
Եւ եփեցաք զորդին իմ եւ կերաք զնա. եւ ասեմ ցսա յաւուրն երկրորդի. Տուր զորդիդ քո եւ կերիցուք զդա. եւ թաքոյց զորդին իւր:
6:29
So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son:
6:30
Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ լուաւ արքայ զբանս կնոջն, պատառեաց զհանդերձս իւր. եւ ինքն շրջէր ի վերայ պարսպին. եւ ետես ժողովուրդն զքուրձն որ ի վերայ մարմնոյ նորա ի ներքոյ:
6:30
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, [he had] sackcloth within upon his flesh:
6:31
Եւ ասէ. Օն եւ օն արասցէ ինձ Աստուած, եւ օն եւ օն յաւելցէ, եթէ կացցէ գլուխն Եղիսէի որդւոյ Սափատայ ի վերայ նորա այսօր:
6:31
Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day:
6:32
Եւ Եղիսէ նստէր ի տան իւրում, եւ ծերքն նստէին ընդ նմա. եւ առաքեաց այր առաջի երեսաց իւրոց. եւ մինչչեւ եկեալ էր հրեշտակին առ նա, ասէ ցծերսն, եթէ` Գիտիցէ՞ք զի առաքեաց որդի սպանողին առնուլ զգլուխ իմ. [86]իբրեւ մտանիցէ հրեշտակն,`` կալջիք զնա ընդ դրօքն. ո՞չ ապաքէն ձայն ոտից տեառն նորա զկնի նորա իցէ:
6:32
But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and [the king] sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: [is] not the sound of his master' s feet behind him:

Եւ մինչդեռ խօսէր ընդ նոսա, ահա հրեշտակն էջ առ նոսա. եւ ասէ. Ահա այս չարութիւն ի Տեառնէ է. զի՞ եւս համբերից Տեառն:
6:33
And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil [is] of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer:
