8:1 Եւ եղեւ յաւուր յայնմիկ հալածումն մեծ ի վերայ եկեղեցւոյն յԵրուսաղէմ. եւ ամենեքեան ցրուեցան ի գեղս Հրէաստանի եւ Սամարիայ բաց յառաքելոցն:	8:1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles:

8:2 Եւ բարձին զՍտեփանոս արք երկիւղածք, եւ արարին կոծ մեծ ի վերայ նորա:	8:2 And devout men carried Stephen [to his burial], and made great lamentation over him:

8:3 Բայց Սաւղոս վնասակար էր եկեղեցւոյն, ի տունս տունս մտանէր, քարշեալ զարս եւ զկանայս` մատնէր ի բանտ:	8:3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed [them] to prison:

8:4 Եւ սփռեալքն շրջէին, աւետարանէին զբանն:	8:4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word:

8:5 Իսկ Փիլիպպոս իջեալ ի քաղաքն Սամարացւոց` քարոզէր նոցա զՔրիստոս:	8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them:

8:6 Ունկն դնէին ժողովուրդքն բանիցն Փիլիպպոսի միաբան` ի լսել նոցա եւ ի տեսանել զնշանսն զոր առնէր:	8:6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did:

8:7 Քանզի բազումք որ ունէին զայսս պիղծս` աղաղակէին ի ձայն մեծ եւ ելանէին:	8:7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed [with them]: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed:

8:8 Եւ բազում անդամալոյծք եւ կաղք բժշկէին:	8:8 And there was great joy in that city:

8:9 եւ եղեւ ուրախութիւն մեծ ի քաղաքին յայնմիկ: Այր ոմն Սիմովն անուն յառաջագոյն էր ի քաղաքին, մոգէր եւ ապշեցուցանէր զազգն Սամարացւոց, ասել զանձնէ թէ իցէ մեծ ոմն:	8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

8:10 յոր հայէին ամենեքեան ի փոքուէ մինչեւ ի մեծամեծս, եւ ասէին. Սա է զօրութիւն Աստուծոյ որ կոչի մեծ:	8:10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God:

8:11 Հայէին ի նա վասն բազում ժամանակաց մոգութեամբքն ապշեցուցանելոյ զնոսա:	8:11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries:

8:12 Բայց յորժամ հաւատացին Փիլիպպոսի որ աւետարանէր վասն արքայութեանն Աստուծոյ եւ անուանն Յիսուսի Քրիստոսի, մկրտէին ամենեքեան արք եւ կանայք:	8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women:

8:13 Այլ եւ ինքն Սիմովն հաւատաց, եւ մկրտեալ կանխէր առ Փիլիպպոս. տեսեալ զնշանսն եւ զմեծամեծ զօրութիւնսն որք լինէին զարմանայր:	8:13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done:

8:14 Իբրեւ լուան որ յԵրուսաղէմ առաքեալքն էին թէ եւ ի Սամարիա ընկալան զբանն Աստուծոյ, առաքեցին առ նոսա զՊետրոս եւ զՅովհաննէս:	8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

8:15 որք իջեալ կացին յաղօթս ի վերայ նոցա, որպէս զի առցեն զՀոգին Սուրբ:	8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

8:16 զի ցայնժամ չ եւ եւս էր եւ ոչ ի վերայ միոյ նոցա հասեալ, բայց միայն մկրտեալք էին յանուն Տեառն Յիսուսի:	8:16 For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus:

8:17 Յայնժամ եդին զձեռս ի վերայ նոցա, եւ առնուին Հոգի Սուրբ:	8:17 Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost:

8:18 Տեսեալ Սիմովնի թէ ձեռս ի վերայ դնելով առաքելոցն` տուեալ լինի Հոգին Սուրբ, մատոյց նոցա ինչս եւ ասէ:	8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money:

8:19 Տուք եւ ինձ զիշխանութիւնս զայս, զի յոյր վերայ դնիցեմ զձեռս` առցէ Հոգի Սուրբ:	8:19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost:

8:20 Եւ Պետրոս ասէ ցնա. Արծաթ քո ընդ քեզ լիցի ի կորուստ, զի զպարգեւսն Աստուծոյ համարեցար ընչիւք ստանալ:	8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money:

8:21 Ոչ գոյ քեզ մասն եւ վիճակ ի բանիդ յայդմիկ, քանզի սիրտ քո ոչ է ուղիղ առաջի Աստուծոյ:	8:21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God:

8:22 Ապաշաւեա դու ի չարեացդ քոց յայդցանէ, եւ աղաչեա զՏէր, թերեւս թողութիւն լիցի քեզ ի մեղմեխ խորհրդոց սրտի քո:	8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee:

8:23 Քանզի ի դառնութիւն մաղձի եւ ի կնճիռն անիրաւութեան տեսանեմ զքեզ:	8:23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and [in] the bond of iniquity:

8:24 Պատասխանի ետ Սիմովն եւ ասէ. Աղաչեցէք դուք վասն իմ զՏէր, զի մի՛ ինչ եկեսցէ ի վերայ իմ յորոց դուքդ ասացէք:	8:24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me:

8:25 Եւ նոցա եդեալ վկայութիւն` խօսեցան զբանն Աստուծոյ, եւ դարձան յԵրուսաղէմ. եւ ի բազում գեղս Սամարացւոցն աւետարանէին:	8:25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans:

8:26 Հրեշտակ Տեառն խօսեցաւ առ Փիլիպպոս եւ ասէ. Արի եւ գնա դու ի կողմն հարաւոյ ընդ ճանապարհ որ իջանէ յԵրուսաղեմէ ի Գազա, զի այս է անապատ:	8:26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert:

8:27 Եւ յարեաւ գնաց. եւ ահաւասիկ այր մի Եթէովպացի, ներքինի հզօր Կանդակայ տիկնոջ Եթէովպացւոց, որ էր ի վերայ ամենայն գանձուց նորա. որ եկեալ էր երկիր պագանել յԵրուսաղէմ:	8:27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship:

8:28 եւ անդրէն դարձեալ եւ նստեալ ի կառս իւրում` ընթեռնոյր զմարգարէն զԵսայի:	8:28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet:

8:29 Ասէ Հոգին ցՓիլիպպոս. Մատիր եւ յարեաց ի կառսդ յայդոսիկ:	8:29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot:

8:30 Եւ ընթացեալ Փիլիպպոս` լսէր զի ընթեռնոյր զԵսայի մարգարէ. եւ ասէ. Գիտիցե՞ս արդեւք զոր ընթեռնուցուսդ:	8:30 And Philip ran thither to [him], and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest:

8:31 Եւ նա ասէ. Զիա՞րդ կարիցեմ, եթէ ոչ ոք առաջնորդեսցէ ինձ: Եւ աղաչեաց զՓիլիպպոս ելանել նստել ընդ նմա:	8:31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him:

8:32 Եւ գլուխ գրոցն զոր ընթեռնոյր` էր այս. Իբրեւ զոչխար ի սպանդ վարեցաւ, եւ իբրեւ զորոջ առաջի կտրչի իւրոյ անմռունչ` այնպէս ոչ բանայ զբերան իւր:	8:32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

8:33 Ի խոնարհութեան նորա դատաստան նորա բարձաւ, եւ զազգատոհմ նորա ո՞ պատմեսցէ, զի բառնան յերկրէ կեանք նորա:	8:33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth:

8:34 Պատասխանի ետ ներքինին Փիլիպպոսի եւ ասէ. Աղաչեմ զքեզ, վասն ո՞յր ասէ մարգարէն զայս, վասն ի՞ւր եթէ վասն այլոյ ուրուք:	8:34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man:

8:35 Եբաց Փիլիպպոս զբերան իւր, եւ սկսեալ ի գրոցս յայսցանէ` աւետարանեաց նմա զՅիսուս:	8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus:

8:36 Իբրեւ երթային զճանապարհայն, եկին ի ջուր ինչ, եւ ասէ ներքինին. Ահաւասիկ ջուր, զի՞նչ արգելու զիս ի մկրտելոյ:	8:36 And as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized:

8:37 ^[36]Եւ ասէ ցնա. Եթէ հաւատաս բոլորով սրտիւ քով, մարթ է: Պատասխանի ետ եւ ասէ. Հաւատամ եթէ Յիսուս Քրիստոս է Որդի Աստուծոյ:	8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God:

8:38 Եւ հրամայեաց կացուցանել զկառսն. եւ իջին երկոքեան ի ջուրն, Փիլիպպոս եւ ներքինին, եւ մկրտեաց զնա:	8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him:

8:39 Եւ իբրեւ ելին ի ջրոյ անտի, ^[37]Հոգին Սուրբ եկն ի վերայ ներքինւոյն, եւ հրեշտակ Տեառն յափշտակեաց`` զՓիլիպպոս, եւ ոչ եւս ետես զնա ներքինին, եւ գնայր զճանապարհ իւր ուրախութեամբ:	8:39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing:

8:40 Բայց Փիլիպպոս գտաւ յԱզովտոս. եւ շրջեալ աւետարանէր ամենայն քաղաքացն` մինչեւ ի գալ նորա ի Կեսարիա:	8:40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea:
