9:1
Եւ ի քսան եւ չորս ամսոյն ժողովեցան որդիքն Իսրայելի եւ սկսան պահել պահս, եւ զգեցան քուրձ եւ արկին մոխիր ի վերայ գլխոց իւրեանց:
9:1
Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them:
9:2
Եւ որոշեցան որդիքն Իսրայելի յամենայն որդւոցն այլազգեաց, եւ [169]քաւեցին զմեղս իւրեանց եւ զմեղս հարցն իւրեանց:
9:2
And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers:
9:3
Եւ կային ի կարգի իւրեանց. եւ [170]կարդայր Եզրա զգիրս օրինացն Տեառն Աստուծոյ. եւ երկիր պագանէին ամենայն ժողովուրդքն`` Տեառն Աստուծոյ իւրեանց:
9:3
And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God [one] fourth part of the day; and [another] fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God:
9:4
Եւ կային ի բարձրաւանդակ տեղւոջ [171]Եզրա եւ Ղեւտացիք եւ Յեսու Յովսեդեկեանց, եւ որդիքն Կադմելի, Սաքանիա որդի Սարեբիայ, որդիք Անանիայ`` եւ գոչեցին մեծաձայն առ Տէր Աստուած իւրեանց:
9:4
Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, [and] Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God:
9:5
Եւ ասեն Ղեւտացիքն Յեսու եւ [172]Կադմիէլ. Եղբարք, օրհնեցէք զՏէր Աստուած մեր`` յաւիտեանս յաւիտենից, եւ եղիցի օրհնեալ փառք Տեառն, եւ բարձրասցի օրհնութիւն նորա [173]եւ գոհութիւն: Եւ սկսաւ օրհնել Եզրա զՏէր Աստուած եւ ասէ:
9:5
Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, [and] Pethahiah, said, Stand up [and] bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise:
9:6
Դու ես նոյն ինքն Տէր [174]Աստուած միայն, դու արարեր զերկինս եւ զերկինս երկնից եւ զամենայն կարգս նորա, եւ զերկիր եւ զամենայն կարգս նորա, եւ զամենայն ինչ որ է ի նմա, զծով եւ զամենայն որ է ի նմա. եւ դու կենդանացուցեր զամենեսեան. եւ քեզ երկրպագեն զօրք երկնից, [175]եւ զքեզ փառաւորեն երկինք երկնից:
9:6
Thou, [even] thou, [art] LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all [things] that [are] therein, the seas, and all that [is] therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee:
9:7
վասն զի դու միայն ես Տէր Աստուած մեր. դու`` ընտրեցեր զԱբրամ, եւ հաներ զնա յերկրէն Քաղդեացւոց, եւ եդիր նմա անուն Աբրահամ:
9:7
Thou [art] the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham:
9:8
եւ գտեր զսիրտ նորա հաւատացեալ առաջի քո. եւ եդիր դու նմա ուխտ տալ [176]նմա զերկիրն Քանանացւոց եւ Քետացւոց եւ Ամովրհացւոց եւ Փերեզացւոց եւ Յեբուսացւոց եւ Գերգեսացւոց [177]եւ զաւակի նորա մինչեւ յաւիտեան``. եւ հաստատեցեր զբանս քո, վասն զի արդար ես:
9:8
And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give [it, I say], to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou [art] righteous:
9:9
Եւ տեսեր զնեղութիւնս հարցն մերոց որ յԵգիպտոս, եւ լուար աղաղակի նոցա ի վերայ Կարմիր ծովուն:
9:9
And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea:
9:10
եւ [178]արարեր նոցա նշան յԵգիպտոս եւ`` ի փարաւոն եւ յամենայն ծառայս նորա, եւ յամենայն ժողովուրդ երկրի նորա. քանզի գիտացեր եթէ հպարտացան ի վերայ ժողովրդեան քո, եւ արարեր քեզ անուն մեծ մինչեւ ցայս օր:
9:10
And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as [it is] this day:
9:11
եւ զծովն Կարմիր հերձեր առաջի նոցա, եւ անցին ընդ մէջ ծովուն իբրեւ ընդ ցամաք. եւ զհալածիչս նոցա ընկղմեցեր իբրեւ զվէմս ի ջուրս բազումս:
9:11
And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters:
9:12
Եւ սեամբ ամպոյ առաջնորդեցեր նոցա ի տուէ, եւ սեամբ հրոյ ի գիշերի, [179]վասն զի լուսաւորէր`` զճանապարհս նոցա ընդ որ գնային:
9:12
Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go:
9:13
Եւ ի լեառնն Սինա իջեր եւ խօսեցար ընդ նոսա յերկնից. եւ ետուր նոցա զդատաստանս ուղիղս, եւ օրէնս ճշմարիտս, հրամանս եւ պատուիրանս բարիս:
9:13
Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:
9:14
եւ զշաբաթս քո սուրբս ծանուցեր նոցա, եւ զպատուիրանս եւ զհրամանս եւ զօրէնս ետուր նոցա ի ձեռն Մովսիսի ծառայի քո:
9:14
And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:
9:15
Եւ զհաց երկնից ետուր նոցա ի կերակուր, եւ զջուր բղխեցուցեր ի վիմէ եւ արբուցեր նոցա. եւ [180]բացեր նոցա մտանել ժառանգել զերկիրն յոր համբարձեր զձեռն քո տալ նոցա:
9:15
And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them:
9:16
Եւ ինքեանք իսկ հարքն մեր հպարտացան եւ անօրինեցան, եւ խստացուցին զպարանոցս իւրեանց, եւ ոչ լուան պատուիրանաց քոց:
9:16
But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments:
9:17
եւ ակնկորեցին յօրինաց քոց, եւ ոչ յիշեցին զսքանչելիս քո զոր արարեր դու ընդ նոսա. այլ խստացուցին զպարանոցս իւրեանց, եւ [181]դարձուցին զթիկունս իւրեանց. եւ կամեցան դառնալ ի ծառայութիւն անդրէն յԵգիպտոս. այլ դու, Տէր`` Աստուած մեր, գթած ես եւ ողորմած, երկայնամիտ եւ բազումողորմ, եւ ոչ ի սպառ մերժեցեր զնոսա:
9:17
And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou [art] a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not:
9:18
Եւ դարձեալ արարին իւրեանց որթ ձուլածոյ` եւ ասացին. Այս են աստուածք որ հանին զմեզ յերկրէն Եգիպտացւոց. եւ արարին մեծամեծ բարկութիւնս:
9:18
Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This [is] thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations:
9:19
եւ դու ըստ բազում գթութեան եւ ողորմութեան քում ոչ թողեր եւ ցրուեցեր զնոսա յանապատին, եւ զսիւն ամպոյն ոչ հեռացուցեր ի նոցանէ որ առաջնորդէր նոցա ի տուէ, եւ զսիւն հրոյն որ լուսաւորէր զնոսա ի գիշերի` զճանապարհսն զոր երթային:
9:19
Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go:
9:20
Եւ զՀոգի քո Սուրբ զբարերար` ետուր նոցա [182]իմանալ զօրէնսն`` եւ զմանանայն ոչ հեռացուցեր ի բերանոց նոցա, եւ ետուր նոցա ջուր [183]ի ծարաւոյ վիմէ:
9:20
Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst:
9:21
Եւ զքառասուն ամ [184]շրջեցուցեր զնոսա յանապատին``. հանդերձք նոցա ոչ մաշեցան, եւ [185]կօշիկք նոցա ոչ հնացան:
9:21
Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, [so that] they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not:
9:22
Եւ հարեր առաջի նոցա զթագաւորս եւ զժողովուրդս, եւ բաժանեցին եւ կալան զերկիր նոցա ի ժառանգութիւն, զերկիրն Սեհոնի`` թագաւորին Եսեբոնայ, եւ զերկիրն Ովգայ թագաւորին Բասանու:
9:22
Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and nations, and didst divide them into corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan:
9:23
Եւ զորդիս նոցա բազմացուցեր իբրեւ զաստեղս երկնից. եւ ածեր զնոսա յերկիր զոր խոստացար հարցն [186]նոցա, եւ ժառանգեցին զնա:
9:23
Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess:
9:24
վասն զի սատակեցեր առաջի նոցա զբնակիչս երկրին Քանանացւոց, եւ ետուր զերկիրն նոցա ի ձեռս նոցա. եւ զթագաւորս նոցա եւ զժողովուրդ երկրին սպառեցեր` որպէս եւ կամեցան`` ըստ կամաց իւրեանց:
9:24
So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would:
9:25
Եւ առին զքաղաքս [187]բարձրաբերձս եւ զպարիսպս``, եւ ժառանգեցին զտունս լի ամենայն բարութեամբ, ջրհորս փորեալս եւ կազմեալս, այգիս եւ ձիթենիս եւ զամենայն ծառս պտղաբերս ի կերակուրս լիութեան նոցա. կերան եւ յագեցան, գիրացան եւ փափկացան ի բարութիւնս մեծամեծս զոր ետուր նոցա:
9:25
And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness:
9:26
Եւ հեռացան եւ մերժեցան ի քէն, եւ յետս դարձան յօրինաց քոց. եւ զմարգարէսն քո կոտորեցին, որ քարոզեցին նոցա դառնալ առ քեզ. եւ արարին զբարկութիւն մեծ առաջի քո:
9:26
Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations:
9:27
Եւ ետուր զնոսա ի ձեռս նեղչաց նոցա, եւ նեղեցին զնոսա. եւ աղաղակեցին առ քեզ ի ժամանակս նեղութեան իւրեանց, եւ դու յերկնից լուար նոցա. եւ բազում գթութեամբ եւ ողորմութեամբ փրկեցեր զնոսա, եւ հաներ զնոսա ի ձեռաց նեղչաց նոցա:
9:27
Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest [them] from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies:
9:28
Եւ յորժամ հանգեան, դարձան եւ արարին զչարիս առաջի քո. եւ թողեր զնոսա ի ձեռս թշնամեաց նոցա, եւ չարչարեցին զնոսա. եւ դարձեալ աղաղակեցին առ քեզ, եւ դու յերկնից լուար նոցա, եւ փրկեցեր զնոսա բազում [188]ողորմութեամբ քով:
9:28
But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest [them] from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies:
9:29
եւ դարձեալ եդիր վկայութիւն առ նոսա` դառնալ յօրէնս քո. իսկ նոքա անմտացեալք յիմարութեամբ ոչ լուան օրինաց քոց, եւ ի հրամանս քո եւ ի պատուիրանս քո մեղան, [189]զոր դու ասացեր եւ հրամայեցեր, զի ո ոք արասցէ ի մարդկանէ զբան պատուիրանաց քոց կեցցէ`` նոքիմբք. իսկ նոքա դարձուցին զթիկունս իւրեանց, եւ եղեն խստապարանոցք եւ ոչ լուան բանի քում:
9:29
And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, ( which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear:
9:30
եւ դու երկայնամտեցեր առ նոսա [190]եւ առաքեցեր ի վկայութիւն զմարգարէսն Հոգւով քո Սրբով``. սակայն եւ այնպէս ոչ լուան. եւ մատնեցեր զնոսա ի ձեռս ժողովրդոց օտարաց երկրին, [191]որք տառապեցուցին զնոսա յոյժ:
9:30
Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands:
9:31
Եւ դու ըստ բազում գթութեան եւ ողորմութեան քում ոչ թողեր զնոսա մինչեւ ի սպառ, եւ ոչ մերժեալ հեռացուցեր զնոսա ի քէն. զի [192]դու հզօր ես գթած եւ ողորմած, երկայնամիտ եւ բազումողորմ:
9:31
Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou [art] a gracious and merciful God:
9:32
Եւ այժմ, Տէր Աստուած մեր` զօրաւոր եւ մեծ, ամենակալ եւ ահարկու, արդար եւ ճշմարիտ, պահեա զուխտ եւ զողորմութիւն, եւ հայեաց ի տառապանս մեր եւ ի նեղութիւնս, եւ թագաւորացն մերոց եւ իշխանացն մերոց, եւ քահանայից եւ մարգարէիցն մերոց, եւ ամենայն հարցն մերոց, եւ ժողովրդեան քո զոր տառապեցուցին, եւ բռնացան ի վերայ մեր թագաւորք Ասորեստանեայց մինչեւ ցայսօր:
9:32
Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day:
9:33
Եւ դու արդար ես յամենայնի զոր ածեր ի վերայ մեր վասն մեղաց մերոց. վասն զի ճշմարտութեամբ արարեր:
9:33
Howbeit thou [art] just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly:
9:34
քանզի մեղաք մեք եւ թագաւորք մեր եւ իշխանք եւ քահանայք եւ հարքն մեր, եւ ոչ արարաք զպատուիրանս քո, եւ ոչ հայեցաք յօրէնս քո եւ ի վկայութիւնս զոր եդիր առ մեզ:
9:34
Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them:
9:35
եւ զգթութիւնս քո եւ զբազում բարութիւնս` զոր ետուր մեզ եւ յերկրիս յայսմիկ ի լայնս եւ յընդարձակ եւ ի պարարտ զոր ետուր մեզ, ոչ գիտացաք` ծառայել քեզ. այլ դարձուցաք զսիրտս մեր յօրինաց քոց, եւ մատնեցաք մեք ի գերութիւն վասն մեղաց մերոց:
9:35
For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works:
9:36
Եւ ահաւասիկ եմք այսօր ի ծառայութիւն, եւ երկիրս զոր ետուր հարցն մերոց ուտել զպտուղ եւ զբարութիւն [193]սորա ազատութեամբ:
9:36
Behold, we [are] servants this day, and [for] the land that thou gavest unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we [are] servants in it:
9:37
Արդ այսօր թագաւորք օտարք տիրեն ի վերայ մեր եւ ուտեն զսա վասն մեղաց մերոց, եւ անկեալք ի ծառայութիւն` տամք հարկս. եւ վարեն զմեզ եւ զանասունս մեր որպէս եւ կամին, եւ եմք ի նեղութեան եւ ի վիշտս մեծ այսօր վասն մեղաց մերոց:
9:37
And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we [are] in great distress:
9:38
Եւ արդ ի վերայ այսր ամենայնի` մեք դնեմք ուխտս [194]եւ հաւատարմութիւնս, եւ հաւատամք յօրէնս քո եւ առնեմք զնոսա, եւ որ ինչ գրեալ է ի նոսա.`` եւ զբանս զայս գրով հաստատեմք եւ կնքեմք` [195]ամենայն իշխանք մեր եւ Ղեւտացիք մեր եւ քահանայք մեր:
9:38
And because of all this we make a sure [covenant], and write [it]; and our princes, Levites, [and] priests, seal:
