14:1 Եւ[159] մեռաւ Աբիա ընդ հարս իւր, եւ թաղեցին զնա ի քաղաքին Դաւթի. եւ թագաւորեաց Ասա որդի նորա փոխանակ նորա. յաւուրս Ասայի հանդարտեաց երկիրն Յուդայ ամս տասն:

14:1 So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years:
|
14:2 Եւ արար բարի եւ ուղղութիւն առաջի Տեառն Աստուծոյ իւրոյ:
|
14:2 And Asa did [that which was] good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God:
|
14:3 եւ ի բաց արար զսեղանս օտարացն եւ զբարձունսն, եւ խորտակեաց զարձանսն, եւ այրեաց զանտառսն:
|
14:3 For he took away the altars of the strange [gods], and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
|
14:4 Եւ ասաց ցՅուդա խնդրել զՏէր Աստուած հարցն իւրեանց, եւ առնել զօրէնս եւ զպատուիրանս:
|
14:4 And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment:
|
14:5 Եւ ի բաց արար յամենայն քաղաքացն Յուդայ [160]զսեղանս եւ զկուռս:
|
14:5 Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him:
|
14:6 եւ խաղաղացան քաղաքք պարսպաւորք`` յերկրին Յուդայ. վասն զի խաղաղացաւ երկիրն, եւ ոչ գոյր ուստեք նմա պատերազմ յամսն յայնոսիկ. վասն զի հանգոյց զնա Տէր:

14:6 And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest:
|
14:7 եւ ասէ ցՅուդա. Շինեսցուք զքաղաքսն զայնոսիկ, եւ արասցուք պարիսպս եւ աշտարակս եւ դրունս եւ նիգս [161]որով տիրեմք երկրիս``. զի զոր օրինակ խնդրեցաք զՏէր Աստուած մեր, [162]եւ նա խնդրեաց զմեզ`` եւ հանգոյց զմեզ շուրջանակի, եւ [163]յաջողեաց մեզ:

14:7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about [them] walls, and towers, gates, and bars, [while] the land [is] yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought [him], and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered:
|
14:8 Եւ եղեւ Ասայի զօր զինակրաց որք բառնային վահանս եւ նիզակս յերկրին Յուդայ` երեք հարեւր հազար. եւ յերկրին Բենիամինի ասպարաւորք եւ աղեղնաւորք` երկերիւր եւ [164]վաթսուն հազար. ամենեքեան նոքա պատերազմողք զօրութեամբ:

14:8 And Asa had an army [of men] that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these [were] mighty men of valour:
|
14:9 Եւ ել ի վերայ նոցա Զարեհ Եթէովպացի զօրութեամբ հազար հազարօք եւ երեք հարեւր կառօք, եւ եկն մինչեւ ի Մարիսա:
|
14:9 And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah:
|
14:10 Եւ գնաց Ասա ընդդէմ նորա, եւ ճակատեցաւ պատերազմն [165]ի ձորն` ի հիւսիսոյ Մարիսայ:
|
14:10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah:
|
14:11 Եւ գոչեաց Ասա առ Տէր Աստուած իւր, եւ ասէ. Տէր, ոչ տկարանայ քեզ ապրեցուցանել բազմօք եւ սակաւուք. զօրացո զմեզ, Տէր Աստուած մեր, վասն զի ի քեզ յուսացաք, եւ անուամբ քով եկաք ի վերայ բազմութեանս այսորիկ. Տէր Աստուած մեր, մի՛ յաղթահարեսցէ զքեզ մարդ:

14:11 And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, [it is] nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou [art] our God; let not man prevail against thee:

14:12 Եւ եհար Տէր զԵթէովպացիսն առաջի [166]Յուդայ, եւ փախեան Եթէովպացիքն:
|
14:12 So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled:
|
14:13 Եւ հալածեաց Ասա եւ զօրն իւր մինչեւ [167]ի Գեդովր, եւ անկան Եթէովպացիքն մինչեւ ոչ մնալ ի նոցանէ ապրեալ. քանզի խորտակեցան առաջի Տեառն եւ առաջի զօրութեան նորա, եւ կողոպտեցին աւար բազում:

14:13 And Asa and the people that [were] with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil:
|
14:14 Եւ կործանեցին [168]զգեղս նոցա շուրջ զԳեդուրաւն``, վասն զի եղեն արհաւիրք ի Տեառնէ ի վերայ նոցա. եւ առին աւար զամենայն քաղաքս նոցա, քանզի աւար բազում եղեւ նոցա:

14:14 And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the LORD came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them:
|
14:15 Այլ եւ զվրանս անասնոցն նոցա [169]առին: Եւ զմիաստնիսն կոտորեցին, եւ առին`` խաշինս բազումս եւ ուղտս, եւ դարձան յԵրուսաղէմ:
|
14:15 They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem:
