2:1 Յամին ութ եւ տասներորդի, յաւուրն երկոտասաներորդի` ամսո՛յն առաջնոյ` հանդէ՛ս առնէր զօրաց իւրոց, եւ խորհէ՛ր ընդ նոսա զի խնդրեսցէ զվրէժ յամենայն երկրէ:

2:1 And in the eighteenth year, the two and twentieth day of the first month, there was talk in the house of Nabuchodonosor king of the Assyrians that he should, as he said, avenge himself on all the earth:
|
2:2 եւ կոչեաց նա զամենայն մեծամեծս իւր, եւ զկուսակալս իւր:
|
2:2 So he called unto him all his officers, and all his nobles, and communicated with them his secret counsel:
|
2:3 եւ ասէ ցնոսա զխորհուրդս կամաց իւրոց. եւ կատարեաց զամենայն չարիս երկրին ՛ի բերանոյ իւրմէ յականջս զօրացն:

2:3 KVJ [2] and concluded the afflicting of the whole earth out of his own mouth:
|
2:4 Եւ նոցա պատասխանի՛ տուեալ ասեն. Սատակեսցի՛ ամենայն մարդ դիմակացք թագաւորի, եւ որ ո՛չ հնազանդեսցի բանի հրամանաց նորա[11]:

2:4 KVJ [3] Then they decreed to destroy all flesh, that did not obey the commandment of his mouth:
|
2:5 Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ կատարեաց զխորհուրդս զայս, կոչեաց Նաբուքոդոնոսոր արքայ Ասորեստանեայց զՀողեփեռնէս զսպարապետ ամենայն զօրաց իւրոց` եւ ասէ ցնա. Ա՛յսպէս ասէ արքայ մեծ` տէ՛ր ՛ի վերայ ամենայն երկրիս. ահաւասիկ դու ելանիցես առաջի երեսաց իմոց, եւ ընտրեսցես առցես դու ընդ քեզ որք յուսացեալ են ՛ի զօրութիւնս իւրեանց, հետեւակս հազարս հարիւր քսան. եւ բազմութիւն յոյժ հեծելոց բեւրս երկոտասան. եւ ելցես դու ընդ կողմն արեւմտից. քանզի ապա՛խտ արարին զբանիւք հրամանաց իմոց: Եւ պատուիրեսցես նոցա, զի պատրաստեսցեն զերկիրն եւ զջուրսն. զի ելանե՛մ ես բարկութեամբ իմով ՛ի վերայ նոցա, եւ ծածկե՛մ զերեսս ամենայն երկրի, եւ առնեմ կոխա՛ն ոտից զօրութեամբ իմով, եւ մատնեցից զնոսա ՛ի յափշտակութիւն ամենայն զօրաց իմոց. եւ վիրաւորք նոցա լցցեն զձորս եւ զծործորս իւրեանց, եւ գե՛տք խաղասցեն յարենէ նոցա. եւ ածի՛ց ես զգերութիւն ՛ի վերայ նոցա ՛ի ծագաց երկրէ: Եւ դու ելանիցես պատիցե՛ս պաշարիցե՛ս ինձ զսահմանս նոցա. եւ ապա մատնիցեն քեզ զանձինս իւրեանց. եւ պահիցես ինձ զնոսա յաւուր նեղութեան եւ կշտամբանա՛ց նոցա[12]:

2:5 KJV [4] And when he had ended his counsel, Nabuchodonosor king of the Assyrians called Holofernes the chief captain of his army, which was next unto him, and said unto him.
KVJ [5] Thus saith the great king, the lord of the whole earth, Behold, thou shalt go forth from my presence, and take with thee men that trust in their own strength, of footmen an hundred and twenty thousand; and the number of horses with their riders twelve thousand.
KJV [6] And thou shalt go against all the west country, because they disobeyed my commandment.
KJV [7] And thou shalt declare unto that they prepare for me earth and water: for I will go forth in my wrath against them and will cover the whole face of the earth with the feet of mine army, and I will give them for a spoil unto them:
KJV [8] So that their slain shall fill their valleys and brooks and the river shall be filled with their dead, till it overflow:
KJV [9] And I will lead them captives to the utmost parts of all the earth.
KJV [10] Thou therefore shalt go forth. and take beforehand for me all their coasts: and if they will yield themselves unto thee, thou shalt reserve them for me till the day of their punishment:

2:6 Եւ ո՛չ անխայեսցէ ակն իմ ՛ի վերայ այնոցիկ որ ապա՛խտ արարին զիս` տա՛լ զնոսա ՛ի մահ եւ յափշտակութիւն յամենայն երկրի քում. զի կենդանի՛ եմ ես զօրութեամբ թագաւորութեամբ իմով. խօսեցա՛յ` եւ առնե՛մ զամենայն զկամս իմ. եւ դու մի՛ զանց առնիցես, եւ մի՛ զմիով բանիւ զոր ետու քեզ հրաման. այլ կատարելով կատարեսցե՛ս զամենայն որպէս եւ ասացի քեզ. եւ ո՛չ յերկարեսցես առնել զայդ:

2:6 KJV [11] But concerning them that rebel, let not thine eye spare them; but put them to the slaughter, and spoil them wheresoever thou goest.
KJV [12] For as I live, and by the power of my kingdom, whatsoever I have spoken, that will I do by mine hand.
KJV [13] And take thou heed that thou transgress none of the commandments of thy lord, but accomplish them fully, as I have commanded thee, and defer not to do them:

2:7 Եւ ե՛լ Հողոփեռն յերեսաց տեառն իւրոյ. եւ կոչեա՛ց առ ինքն զամենայն իշխանս եւ զզօրագլուխս Ասորւոց, եւ ընտրէ՛ր ՛ի նոցանէ եւ թուէ՛ր արս ՛ի պատերազմ. որպէս եւ հրաման ետ նմա տէրն իւր` բեւրս երկոտասան. եւ զհեծելազօրս աղեղնաւորս` բեւրս երկոտասան[13]:

2:7 KJV [14] Then Holofernes went forth from the presence of his lord, and called ail the governors and captains, and the officers of the army of Assur;
KJV [15] And he mustered the chosen men for the battle, as his lord had commanded him, unto an hundred and twenty thousand, and twelve thousand archers on horseback:

2:8 եւ կարգէ՛ր կազմէ՛ր զնոսա ճակատեալս ՛ի պատերազմ: Եւ ա՛ռ նա ո՛ւղտս եւ գրաստս բազումս յոյժ, բառնա՛լ զկահ եւ զկարասի, եւ խաշն` եւ արջառս, եւ երամակս այծից ՛ի դարմանս իւրեանց, որոց ո՛չ գոյր թիւ:

2:8 KJV [16] And he ranged them, as a great army is ordered for the war.
KJV [17] And he took camels and asses for their carriages, a very great number; and sheep and oxen and goats without number for their provision:

2:9 եւ տայր ամենայնի նոցա թոշա՛կ ՛ի ճանապարհ:

2:9 KJV [18] And plenty of victual for every man of the army:
|
2:10 ոսկի եւ արծաթ ՛ի տանէ՛ թագաւորին բազում յոյժ:

2:10 KJV [18] and very much gold and silver out of the king' s house:

2:11 Ե՛լ ինքն եւ ամենայն զօրքն ընդ նմա ՛ի պատերազմ, զի պատրաստեսցէ թագաւորին` ելանել ծածկել զերեսս ամենայն երկրին արեւմտեայց` զինու կառօք եւ երիվարօք, եւ ընտիր ընտի՛ր հետեւակօք, եւ որ այլեւս խառնեալ էին ՛ի նոսա իբրեւ զբազմութիւն մարախոյ, եւ իբրեւ զաւազ երկրի. զի ո՛չ գոյր թիւ բազմութեան նոցա[14]:

2:11 KJV [19] Then he went forth and all his power to go before king Nabuchodonosor in the voyage, and to cover all the face of the earth westward with their chariots, and horsemen, and their chosen footmen.
KJV [20] A great number also sundry countries came with them like locusts, and like the sand of the earth: for the multitude was without number:

2:12 Եւ գնացին նոքա ՛ի Նինուէ քաղաքէ` գնա՛ց երից աւուրց ՛ի դաշտն Բեկեղիթայ, եւ բանակեցան նոքա մե՛րձ առ լերինն ՛ի ձախակողմն վերին Կիլիկիայ. եւ ա՛ռ զամենայն զօրս իւր` զհեծեալս եւ զհետեւակս, եւ զէնս եւ զկառս, եւ գնա՛ց նա անտի ՛ի լեռնակողմն:

2:12 KJV [21] And they went forth of Nineve three days' journey toward the plain of Bectileth, and pitched from Bectileth near the mountain which is at the left hand of the upper Cilicia.
KJV [22] Then he took all his army, his footmen, and horsemen and chariots, and went from thence into the hill country:

2:13 եւ եհար նա զՓուդ, եւ զՂ՛ուդ. քանդէր եւ աւար հարկանէր զամենայն որդիսն Հռամասեայ եւ զԻսմայելի, որ բնակեալ էին ընդ երեսս անապատին, ընդ հարաւակողմն Քեղ՛ովնեայ:

2:13 KJV [23] And destroyed Phud and Lud, and spoiled all the children of Rasses, and the children of Israel, which were toward the wilderness at the south of the land of the Chellians:

2:14 Եւ անց ընդ Եփրատ գետ, եւ շրջեցաւ նա ընդ Միջագետս, եւ եհար վանեաց զամենայն քաղաքս բարձունս որ ՛ի վերայ ձորոյն Նաբովրայ էին, մինչեւ ՛ի սահմանս ծովուն[15]:

2:14 KJV [24] Then he went over Euphrates, and went through Mesopotamia, and destroyed all the high cities that were upon the river Arbonai, till ye come to the sea:

2:15 եւ հասանէր ունէր զսահմանս Կիլիկեցւոց, եւ հարկանէր սատակէր զամենայն դիմադարձս իւր: Եւ եկն մինչեւ ՛ի սահմանս Յափեթայ ՛ի հարաւակողմն, որ է՛ դէմ յանդիման Արաբիայ:

2:15 KJV [25] And he took the borders of Cilicia, and killed all that resisted him, and came to the borders of Japheth, which were toward the south, over against Arabia:

2:16 եւ արգելեալ փակեաց զամենայն որդիսն Մադիամու, եւ հրձի՛գ արար զամենայն յարկս եւ զխորանս նորա, եւ աւերէր քանդէր զամենայն գոմս խաշանց նոցա:

2:16 KJV [26] He compassed also all the children of Madian, and burned up their tabernacles, and spoiled their sheepcotes:

2:17 Եւ է՛ջ նա ՛ի դաշտն Դամասկոսի յաւուրս հնձոց ցորենոյ, եւ հրձի՛գ արար զամենայն զանդս եւ զագարակս նոցա, եւ զհօտս եւ զանդեա՛յս նոցա արա՛ր յապականութիւն. եւ զքաղաքս նոցա աւա՛ր հարկանէր, եւ զմանկունս նոցա ջարդէր. եւ հարկանէ՛ր սատակէր զերիտասարդս նոցա ՛ի բերան սրոյ:

2:17 KJV [27] Then he went down into the plain of Damascus in the time of wheat harvest, and burnt up all their fields, and destroyed their flocks and herds, also he spoiled their cities, and utterly wasted their countries, and smote all their young men with the edge of the sword:

2:18 Եւ անկաւ ա՛հ եւ երկեւղ ՛ի վերայ բնակչաց ծովեզերեայց` Տիւրոսի եւ Սիդոնի, եւ ՛ի վերայ բնակչացն Սիւրիայ, եւ Իւկինեայ. զամենայն բնակիչսն յԵմնանու: Եւ որք բնակեալ էին յԱզովտոս, եւ յԱսկաղ՛ոն` երկեա՛ն յոյժ ՛ի նմանէ[16]:

2:18 KJV [28] Therefore the fear and dread of him fell upon all the inhabitants of the sea coasts, which were in Sidon and Tyrus, and them that dwelt in Sur and Ocina, and all that dwelt in Jemnaan; and they that dwelt in Azotus and Ascalon feared him greatly:
