5:1 Եւ եղեւ աղաղակ մեծ ժողովրդեանն եւ կանանց իւրեանց` այր առ եղբայր [80]իւր:

5:1 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews:
|
5:2 եւ ասեն. Վասն որդւոց մերոց եւ դստերաց մերոց, որոց պակասեցին կերակուրք, երթիցուք գնեսցուք`` եւ կեցցուք:
|
5:2 For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, [are] many: therefore we take up corn [for them], that we may eat, and live:
|
5:3 Եւ ոմանք ասէին. Զանդաստանս մեր եւ [81]զայգիս դիցուք ի գրաւի, եւ առցուք ցորեան [82]եւ կերիցուք:
|
5:3 Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth:
|
5:4 Եւ էին ոմանք որ ասէին. Տուաք զստացուածս մեր, եւ առաք ոսկի եւ արծաթ, եւ տուաք ի հարկս թագաւորի:
|
5:4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king' s tribute, [and that upon] our lands and vineyards:
|
5:5 Եւ արդ որպէս մարմինք եղբարց մերոց են մարմինք մեր, եւ որպէս որդիք նոցա` որդիք մեր. եւ արդ [83]ընդէ՞ր տուաք մեք [84]զորդիս մեր ի ծառայութիւն, եւ դստերք մեր վարեալ են ի բռնութիւն, եւ ոչ գոյ ի ձեռս մեր կար` [85]որով փրկեսցուք զնոսա:

5:5 Yet now our flesh [is] as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and [some] of our daughters are brought unto bondage [already]: neither [is it] in our power [to redeem them]; for other men have our lands and vineyards:

5:6 Եւ տրտմեցայ ես յոյժ յորժամ լուայ զաղաղակն եւ զբանս նոցա:
|
5:6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words:
|
5:7 Եւ արարի խորհուրդ ընդ միտս իմ. եւ կագեցայ ընդ պատուականս եւ ընդ իշխանս նոցա, եւ ասեմ ցնոսա. Դուք էք որ խնդրէք [86]զհարկս յեղբարց ձերոց: Եւ [87]հրամայեցի նոցա լինել`` ժողով մեծ:

5:7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them:
|
5:8 Եւ ասեմ ցնոսա. Մեք փրկեցաք զեղբարս մեր զՀրեայս որ վաճառեցան հեթանոսաց, [88]զոր մեք ոչ գիտացաք, եւ դուք վաճառեցէք զնոսա``: Եւ լռեցին, եւ ոչինչ կարացին տալ պատասխանի:

5:8 And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing:
|
5:9 Եւ ասացի. Ոչ բարւոք է գործդ զոր դուքդ առնէք, [89]վասն զի ոչ երկնչիք յԱստուծոյ. եւ վասն այսորիկ ոչ եւս զերծաք մեք ի նախատանաց հեթանոսաց, ի թշնամեաց մերոց:

5:9 Also I said, It [is] not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies:
|
5:10 Եւ ասեմ ես ցեղբարսն իմ եւ ցծանօթս. Եւ ես եւ դուք տացուք արծաթ եւ արդիւնս ի փրկանս զոր խնդրեն հարկահանքդ:
|
5:10 I likewise, [and] my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury:
|
5:11 եւ դարձուսցուք`` այսօր զանդաստանս` զայգիս եւ զձիթենիս եւ զտունս դոցա. [90]եւ ընդ արծաթոյ մերոյ գնեսցեն զցորեան` զգինի եւ զձէթ, եւ բերցեն դոցա:

5:11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth [part] of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them:
|
5:12 Եւ ասեն իշխանքն եւ այլ մեծամեծքն``. Դարձուսցուք անդրէն եւ ի դոցանէ ոչ ինչ խնդրեսցուք, եւ այդպէս արասցուք որպէս հրամայեցերդ: Եւ կոչեցի զքահանայսն եւ երդմնեցուցի զնոսա [91]վասն բանիս այսորիկ:

5:12 Then said they, We will restore [them], and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise:
|
5:13 Եւ զարկանելին իմ թօթափեցի ուժգին, եւ ասեմ. Այսպէս թօթափեսցէ Աստուած զամենայն այր որ ոչ կատարեսցէ զբանս զայս` [92]ի կենաց իւրոց եւ ի տեղեաց իւրոց``. եղիցի այսպէս ունայնացեալ եւ թօթափեալ [93]ի կենաց իւրոց``: Եւ ասացին ամենայն ժողովուրդ եկեղեցւոյն այնորիկ. Ամէն: Եւ օրհնեցին զՏէր, եւ արարին եւ կատարեցին ամենայն ժողովուրդքն զբանս զայս:

5:13 Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise:
|
5:14 Եւ յօրէն յայնմանէ յորմէ հետէ [94]պատուիրեցի` զի մի՛ լիցին նոցա իշխանք Յուդայ``, ի քսաներորդ ամէն մինչեւ յամն երեսներորդ երկրորդ Արտաշիսի արքայի` զերկոտասան ամ, ես եւ եղբարք իմ [95]եղաք իշխանք. բռնի զուրուք մեք ոչ կերաք եւ արբաք:

5:14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, [that is], twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor:
|
5:15 Եւ որք էին բռնացեալ զառաջինն` ծանրացուցի նոցա, եւ առի ի նոցանէ զհաց եւ զգինի եւ զայլ ամենայն, արծաթ դիդրաքմայս քառասուն, եւ դարձուցի ի տեարս իւրեանց, եւ ի բաց արարի զնոսա յիշխանութենէ ժողովրդեանն``, եւ ես ոչ եղէ իբրեւ զնոսա վասն երկիւղին Աստուծոյ:

5:15 But the former governors that [had been] before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God:
|
5:16 [96]Եւ յաջողէր գործ պարսպին. եւ ոչ զուրուք բռնացայ ունել զանդաստանս եւ կամ զայգիս, եւ ամենեքեան էին անխափան ի գործ պարսպին:
|
5:16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants [were] gathered thither unto the work:
|
5:17 Եւ արս հարեւր ի Հրէիցն, եւ այլք որ գային ի հեթանոսաց առ մեզ որ շուրջ էին զմեւք` ես ծախէի եւ խառնէի ի ճաշն իմ:
|
5:17 Moreover [there were] at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that [are] about us:
|
5:18 Եւ լինէր յաւուր միում զուարակ մի, եւ ոչխարք վեց` ընտիրք, եւ [97]ամիկ մի. այս էր յաւուր ծախքն իմ``. եւ ընդ մէջ տասն աւուր անխնայ տայի զգինին ըմպել ամենեցուն, եւ ոչ [98]յումեքէ առի զհաց բռնի``, քանզի գիտէի եթէ ծանր [99]է գործ ժողովրդեանն:

5:18 Now [that] which was prepared [for me] daily [was] one ox [and] six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people:
|
5:19 Յիշեսցէ զիս Աստուած`` ի բարութիւն, որպէս արարի ամենայն ժողովրդեանն:
|
5:19 Think upon me, my God, for good, [according] to all that I have done for this people:
|
