Ո՛րդեակ` փախի՛ր ՛ի մեղաց` որպէս յերեսաց օձի, զի թէ մերձենաս` հարկանէ զքեզ:

21:1
1. My son, hast thou sinned? add no more thereto; And make supplication for thy former
21:1 KJV [1] My son, hast thou sinned? do so no more, but ask pardon for thy former sins. Flee from sin as from the face of a serpent: for if thou comest too near it, it will bite thee: the teeth thereof are as the teeth of a lion, slaying the souls of men:

Ամենայն անօրէնութիւն որպէս սուր երկսայրի՛ է:

2. Flee from sin as from the face of a serpent; For if thou draw nigh it will bite thee: The teeth thereof are the teeth of a lion, Slaying the souls of men.
21:2 All iniquity is as a two edged sword:
21:4
եւ հարուածոց նորա չի՛ք բժշկութիւն:

3. All iniquity is as a two-edged sword; Its stroke hath no healing.
21:4 the wounds whereof cannot be healed:
21:5
Թշնամանք եւ պատուհասք աւերեսցեն զմեծութիւն, սոյնպէս եւ տունք ամբարտաւանից կործանեսցին:

21:5
4. Terror and violence will lay waste riches; So the house of a haughty man shall be laid waste.
21:5 To terrify and do wrong will waste riches: thus the house of proud men shall be made desolate:
21:6
Աղօթք աղքատաց մե՛րձ է առ Աստուած, եւ նոցա իրաւունք փութապէս ելանեն:

5. Supplication from a poor man’s mouth reacheth to the ears of God, And his judgement cometh speedily.
21:6 A prayer out of a poor man' s mouth reacheth to the ears of God, and his judgment cometh speedily:
21:7
Եւ որ ատէ զյանդիմանութիւն` ՛ի ճանապարհս մեղաւորաց գտանի. զի որ երկնչի ՛ի Տեառնէ` դառնայ վաղվաղակի սրտիւ իւրով:

21:7
6. One that hateth reproof is in the path of the sinner; And he that feareth the Lord will turn again in his heart.
21:7 He that hateth to be reproved is in the way of sinners: but he that feareth the Lord will repent from his heart:
21:8
՛Ի հեռաստանէ յայտնի է հզօրն լեզուաւ իւրով. իսկ զգայթագղելն նորա գիտէ իմաստունն:

21:8
7. He that is mighty in tongue is known afar off: But the man of understanding knoweth when he slippeth.
21:8 An eloquent man is known far and near; but a man of understanding knoweth when he slippeth:
21:9
Եւ որ շինէ զտուն իւր ընչիւք օտարաց, այնպէս է` որպէս առնէ ոք քարինս շեղջակոյտ:

8. He that buildeth his house with other men’s money Is like one that gathereth himself stones against winter.
21:9 He that buildeth his house with other men' s money is like one that gathereth himself stones for the tomb of his burial:
21:10
Զի ժողով անօրինաց խծուծ կուտեալ է, եւ կատարած նոցա բոց հրոյ[71]:

9. The congregation of wicked men is tow wrapped together; And the end of them is a flame of fire.
21:10 The congregation of the wicked is like tow wrapped together: and the end of them is a flame of fire to destroy them:
21:11
Մեղաւորաց ճանապարհք ողորկ եւ հորդեալ քարաքաղ, բայց վախճան նոցա կորուստ ՛ի դժոխս:

10. The way of sinners is made smooth with stones; And at the last end thereof is the pit of Hades.
21:11 The way of sinners is made plain with stones, but at the end thereof is the pit of hell:
21:12
Իսկ որ պահէ զօրէնս` խորհրդոց իւրոց հասու լինի:

11. He that keepeth the law becometh master of the intent thereof; And the end of the fear of the Lord is wisdom.
21:12 He that keepeth the law of the Lord getteth the understanding thereof:
21:13
եւ վախճան երկիւղի Տեառն իմաստութիւն:

12. He that is not clever will not be instructed; And there is a cleverness which maketh bitterness to abound.
21:13 and the perfection of the fear of the Lord is wisdom:
21:14
Մա՛րդ որ ո՛չ է խորագէտ` ո՛չ խրատի:

13. The knowledge of a wise man shall be made to abound as a flood; And his counsel as a fountain of life.
21:14 He that is not wise will not be taught:
21:15
զի է՛ խորագիտութիւն որ յաճախէ ՛ի դառնութիւն:

21:15
14. The inward parts of a fool are like a broken vessel; And he will hold no knowledge.
21:15 but there is a wisdom which multiplieth bitterness:
21:16
եւ իմաստնոյ գիտութիւն որպէս հեղեղ յորդեսցէ, եւ որպէս բղխումն աղբեր:

21:16
15. If a man of knowledge hear a wise word, He will commend it, and add unto it: The dissolute man heareth it, and it displeaseth him, And he putteth it away behind his back.
21:16 The knowledge of a wise man shall abound like a flood: and his counsel is like a pure fountain of life:
21:17
Սիրտ անմտի որպէս աման ջախջախեալ, զի զգիտութիւն ամենեւին ո՛չ ընդունի:

16. The discourse of a fool is like a burden in the way; But grace shall be found on the lips of the wise.
21:17 The inner parts of a fool are like a broken vessel, and he will hold no knowledge as long as he liveth:

Իմաստունն իբրեւ լսէ զբան հանճարեղին` գովէ զնա եւ յանգի ՛ի նա: Անագորոյնն իբրեւ լսէ տհաճ լինի, դարձուցանէ զերեսս` եւ զայն յետս ընկենու:

17. The mouth of the prudent man shall be sought for in the congregation; And they will ponder his words in their heart.
21:18 If a skilful man hear a wise word, he will commend it, and add unto it: but as soon as one of no understanding heareth it, it displeaseth him, and he casteth it behind his back:
21:19
Ճառ բանից առն մորոսի` բեռն ընկեցեալ ՛ի ճանապարհի:

21:19
18. As a house that is destroyed, so is wisdom to a fool; And the knowledge of an unwise man is talk without sense.
21:19 The talking of a fool is like a burden in the way: but grace shall be found in the lips of the wise:
21:22
եւ իբրեւ կապանք յոտս անմտաց իմաստութիւն:

19. Instruction is fetters on the feet of an unwise man, And as manacles on the right hand.
21:22 Doctrine unto fools is as fetters on the feet KJV [17] They enquire at the mouth of the wise man in the congregation, and they shall ponder his words in their heart. KJV [18] As is a house that is destroyed, so is wisdom to a fool: and the knowledge of the unwise is as talk without sense. KJV [19] Doctrine unto fools is as fetters on the feet, and like manacles on the right hand:

Մորոսն ՛ի ծիծաղելն իւրում բարձրացուցանէ զանձն. իսկ խորագէտն հազիւ ընդ քիմսն ժպտի:

20. A fool lifteth up his voice with laughter; But a clever man will scarce smile quietly.
21:23 A fool lifteth up his voice with laughter; but a wise man doth scarce smile a little:

Իբրեւ զարդ ոսկի է իմաստնոյ խրատ, եւ որպէս ապարանջան յաջոյ ձեռին նորա:

21. Instruction is to a prudent man as an ornament of gold, And as a bracelet upon his right arm.
21:24 Learning is unto a wise man as an ornament of gold, and like a bracelet upon his right arm. KJV [22] A foolish man' s foot is soon in his [neighbour's] house: but a man of experience is ashamed of him. KJV [23] A fool will peep in at the door into the house: but he that is well nurtured will stand without:
21:27
Անմտութիւն է մարդոյ կալ առ դուրս` եւ ունկն դնել ՛ի ներքս, եւ որ իմաստուն է` ծանր թուի նմա այս եւ անարգանք:

22. The foot of a fool is soon in house; But a man of experience will be ashamed of entering.
21:27 It is the rudeness of a man to hearken at the door: but a wise man will be grieved with the disgrace:

Առն անմտի սիրտ ՛ի բերան իւր է, եւ բանք իմաստնոյ կշիռ կացցէ ՛ի բերան եւ ՛ի սիրտ:

23. A foolish man peepeth in from the door of house; But a man that is instructed will stand without.
21:29 The lips of talkers will be telling such things as pertain not unto them: but the words of such as have understanding are weighed in the balance. KJV [26] The heart of fools is in their mouth: but the mouth of the wise is in their heart:

Անիծանէ ամբարիշտն զՍատանայ` եւ ո՛չ իմանայ թէ անիծանէ զանձն իւր:

24. It is a want of instruction in a man to listen at the door; But the prudent man will be grieved with the disgrace.
21:30 When the ungodly curseth Satan, he curseth his own soul:
21:31
Զանձն իւր պղծէ քսուն, եւ ՛ի բնակութեան իւրում ատեցեալ լինի:

21:31
25. The lips of strangers will be grieved at these things; But the words of prudent men will be weighed in the balance.
21:31 A whisperer defileth his own soul, and is hated wheresoever he dwelleth:
