6:1 Անուն վատ` ամօթ եւ անարգանք ժառանգէ, եւ մարդ մեղաւոր զերկխօսութիւն:

6:1 1. And instead of a friend become not an enemy; For an evil name shall inherit shame and reproach: Even so shall the sinner that hath a double tongue.

6:2 Մի՛ հպարտանար յանձին քո խորհուրդ:

6:3 զի մի՛ ապականիցես զպտուղ քո, եւ անարգեսցիս իբրեւ զփայտ անպտուղ:

6:3 3. Thou shalt eat up thy leaves, and destroy thy fruits, And leave thyself as a dry tree.

6:4 Անձն չար կորուսանէ զստացիչս իւր, եւ ոտնհար լիցի անձն իւր թշնամեաց իւրոց[25]:

6:4 4. A wicked soul shall destroy him that hath gotten it, And shall make him a laughingstock to his enemies.

6:5 Քաղցրախօս մարդ` բազում բարեկամս առնէ, եւ լեզու քաղցր` ՛ի բազմաց յաճախ առնու գովութիւն:

6:5 5. Sweet words will multiply a man’s friends; And a fair-speaking tongue will multiply courtesies.
6:5 Sweet language will multiply friends: and a fairspeaking tongue will increase kind greetings: |
6:6 Ո՛րդեակ` բազումք եղիցին բարեկամք քո, բայց ՛ի հազարաց եղիցի քեզ մի խորհրդակից:

6:6 6. Let those that are at peace with thee be many; But thy counsellors one of a thousand.
6:6 Be in peace with many: nevertheless have but one counsellor of a thousand: |
6:7 Եթէ ստանաս քեզ բարեկամ` ՛ի ժամանակի նեղութեան ստացիր, բայց մի վաղվաղակի հաւատար ՛ի նա:

6:7 7. If thou wouldest get thee a friend, get him by proving, And be not in haste to trust him.

6:8 զի են բարեկամք սիրոյ ժամանակի, բայց յաւուր բարկութեան ոչինչ են:

6:8 8. For there is a friend for his own occasion; And he will not continue in the day of thy affliction.
6:8 For some man is a friend for his own occasion, and will not abide in the day of thy trouble: |
6:9 Եւ է՛ բարեկամ` որ լինի ՛ի տեղի թշնամւոյ, եւ առ կագ զթշնամութիւն իւր յայտնէ նախատել զքեզ:

6:9 9. And there is a friend that turneth to enmity; And he will discover strife to thy reproach.

6:10 Բարեկամ հաղորդ սեղանոյ` ո՛չ օգնէ քեզ ՛ի նեղութեան:

6:10 10. And there is a friend that is a companion at the table; And he will not continue in the day of thy affliction.

6:11 եւ բարեաց քոց լիցի բաժանորդ` որպէս եւ դու[26]:

6:12 12. If thou shalt be brought low, he will be against thee, And will hide himself from thy face.

6:13 Զա՛տ կաց ՛ի թշնամեաց քոց, եւ ՛ի սուտակասպաս բարեկամէ եւ յերկխօսէ զգո՛յշ լեր:

6:13 13. Separate thyself from thine enemies; And beware of thy friends.

6:14 Բարեկամ հաւատարիմ` աշտարակ ամուր, եւ որ եգիտ զնա` եգիտ գանձ[27]:

6:14 14. A faithful friend is a strong defence; And he that hath found him hath found a treasure.

6:15 Հաւատարիմ բարեկամի չիք գինք:

6:15 15. There is nothing that can be taken in exchange for a faithful friend; And his excellency is beyond price.
6:15 Nothing doth countervail a faithful friend, and his excellency is invaluable.

6:18 Ո՛րդեակ` ՛ի մանկութեան քում ընտրեա՛ զիմաստութիւն, եւ մինչեւ ՛ի ծերութիւն գտանես զհանճար:

6:18 17. He that feareth the Lord directeth his friendship aright; For as he is, so is his neighbour also.
6:18 My son, gather instruction from thy youth up: so shalt thou find wisdom till thine old age.
KJV [19] Come unto her as one that ploweth and soweth, and wait for her good fruits: for thou shalt not toil much in labouring about her, but thou shalt eat of her fruits right soon: |
6:21 Եւ զի դժուարին է հանճար տգիտաց, զի ո՛չ կարեն նմա հասու լինել:

6:21 18. My son, gather instruction from thy youth up: And even unto hoar hairs thou shalt find wisdom.

6:23 19. Come unto her as one that ploweth and soweth, And wait for her good fruits; For thy toil shall be little in the tillage of her, And thou shalt eat of her fruits right soon.

6:24 Լո՛ւր ինձ որդեա՛կ, եւ ընկալ զխրատ իմ, եւ մի՛ լինիր ՛ի բաց ՛ի հանճարէ իմմէ:

6:24 20. How exceeding harsh is she to the unlearned! And he that is without understanding will not abide in her.
6:24 KJV [23] Give ear, my son, receive my advice, and refuse not my counsel: |
6:25 Ա՛րկ դու զոտս քո ՛ի կապս նորա, եւ ընդ անուր նորա զպարանոց քո:

6:25 21. As a mighty stone of trial shall she rest upon him; And he will not delay to cast her from him.

6:28 23. Give ear, my son, and accept my judgement, And refuse not my counsel,
6:28 KJV [27] Search, and seek, and she shall be made known unto thee: and when thou hast got hold of her, let her not go: |
6:29 եւ ՛ի վախճանի գտցես զհանգիստ նորա:

6:29 24. And bring thy feet into her fetters, And thy neck into her chain.

6:30 Եւ կապանք իմաստութեան եղիցին քեզ ապաստանս զօրութեան, եւ անուրք նորա ՛ի զարդ ոսկւոյ:

6:30 25. Put thy shoulder under her, and bear her, And be not grieved with her bonds.
6:30 KJV [29] Then shall her fetters be a strong defence for thee, and her chains a robe of glory.
KJV [30] For there is a golden ornament upon her, and her bands are purple lace: |
6:32 Եւ պսակ ցնծութեան դիցի ՛ի գլուխ քո:

6:32 Thou shalt put her on as a robe of honour, and shalt put her about thee as a crown of joy: |
6:33 Ո՛րդեակ` եթէ կամիս խորագէտ լինել:

6:33 27. Search, and seek, and she shall be made known unto thee; And when thou hast got hold of her, let her not go.
6:33 My son, if thou wilt, thou shalt be taught: and if thou wilt apply thy mind, thou shalt be prudent.

6:35 ՛ի մէջ ծերոց կացցես, եւ որ իմաստունն է` ՛ի նա մերձեսցիս: Զօր ամենայն զպատգամս Աստուծոյ կամեա՛ դու լսել, եւ առակք իմաստութեան ՛ի քէն մի անցցեն:

6:35 28. For at the last thou shalt find her rest; And she shall be turned for thee into gladness.
6:35 KJV [34] Stand in the multitude of the elders; and cleave unto him that is wise.
KJV [35] Be willing to hear every godly discourse; and let not the parables of understanding escape thee: |

6:36 And if thou seest a man of understanding, get thee betimes unto him, and let thy foot wear the steps of his door: |
6:37 Խորհեա՛ դու ՛ի հրամանս Տեառն, եւ նա հաստատեսցէ զսիրտ քո, եւ զիմաստութեան ցանկութիւն տացէ քեզ:

6:37 30. For there is a golden ornament upon her, And her bands are a riband of blue.
6:37 Let thy mind be upon the ordinances of the Lord and meditate continually in his commandments: he shall establish thine heart, and give thee wisdom at thine owns desire: |
