The Geneva Bible Translation Notes

This review of the 1599 GENEVA BIBLE and NOTES differs significantly from the original review of the NEW GENEVA STUDY BIBLE (NGSB) in 1998. Since then the writer has completed a read through of the NGSB in April 2010, and has completed a read through of the 1599 GENEVA BIBLE, Tolle Lege restoration, in June 2012. Various weakness of the NGSB are noted below. The 1599 GENEVA BIBLE, Tolle Lege restoration, was found to be an unsatisfactory publication as noted in 1599 Geneva Bible, Tolle Lege Press Restoration, Fourth Printing, 2008, Probable Errata Listing (June 30, 2014, revised August 15, 2014, revised September 4, 2015, December 21, 2015, and March 19, 2016).

Furthermore, the 1599 GENEVA BIBLE text is said to be approximately 80 percent Tyndale translation. The AUTHORIZED KING JAMES VERSION would be the preferred text. Therefore, THE AUTHORIZED KING JAMES VERSION (London, 1672), WITH THE NOTES FROM THE GENEVA BIBLE emerges as the superior Bible text containing the GENEVA NOTES [it was used as authority for approximately 64 of the 117 probable errors found in the 1599 Tolle Lege restoration, -- compiler]. This publication is available today only as a PDF file of a bit-map scan of the original publication.

The writer proposes that a limited modernization (modern typeface and modern spelling) of THE AUTHORIZED KING JAMES VERSION (London, 1672), WITH THE NOTES FROM THE GENEVA BIBLE be published.
