5:1 Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ լուան հեթանոսքն շուրջանակի. եթէ շինեցաւ սեղանն, եւ նորոգեցաւ սրբութիւնն միւսանգամ, որպէս է՛ր զառաջինն, բարկացա՛ն յոյժ^[104]:	5:1 Now when the nations round about heard that the altar was built and the sanctuary renewed as before, it displeased them very much:

5:2 Խորհեցան գա՛լ հասանել ջնջե՛լ զազգն Յակոբեան որք էին ՛ի մէջ նոցա. եւ սկսան կոտորել եւ սպառե՛լ զնոսա:	5:2 Wherefore they thought to destroy the generation of Jacob that was among them, and thereupon they began to slay and destroy the people:

5:3 Եւ տա՛յր պատերազմ հանապազ Յուդա ընդ որդիսն Եսաւայ որ են ՛ի կողմանս Եդոմայեցւոց Ակրաբատեանց. զի շուրջանակի եկեալ պատեալ պաշարեալ նստէին շուրջ զԻսրայէլիւ. հարկանէր զնոսա ՛ի հարուածս բազումս, եւ նուա՛զ առնէր զնոսա, եւ առնոյր նա զկապուտ զաւար նոցա^[105]:	5:3 Then Judas fought against the children of Esau in Idumea at Arabattine, because they besieged Gael: and he gave them a great overthrow, and abated their courage, and took their spoils:

5:4 Եւ յիշէր զչարութիւն որդւոցն Բեանայ, որ էին լեալ ժողովրդեանն յորոգայթ գայթագղութեան, վարանել զնոսա ՛ի ճանապարհս իւրեանց^[106]:	5:4 Also he remembered the injury of the children of Bean, who had been a snare and an offence unto the people, in that they lay in wait for them in the ways:

5:5 Փախստեա՛յ լինէին ՛ի նմանէ, եւ ամրանային ՛ի բերդս իւրեանց. գա՛յր` շուրջ, պա՛հ դնէր զնոքօք, եւ հրձի՛գ առնէր զամուրս նոցա ամենայն բնակչօքն հանդերձ:	5:5 He shut them up therefore in the towers, and encamped against them, and destroyed them utterly, and burned the towers of that place with fire, and all that were therein:

5:6 Եւ անցանէր խաղա՛յր նա ՛ի վերայ որդւոցն Ամոնայ. եւ ա՛նդ գտանէր ձեռն հզօր, զօրս բազումս. եւ զՏիմոթէոս զօրագլուխ նոցա:	5:6 Afterward he passed over to the children of Ammon, where he found a mighty power, and much people, with Timotheus their captain:

5:7 Հարկանէր նոցա ՛ի դիմի, եւ բազում անգամ պատերազմաւ սաստկանայր ՛ի վերայ նոցա:	5:7 So he fought many battles with them, till at length they were discomfited before him; and he smote them:

5:8 հարկանէր վանէր, եւ առնոյր նա զԱզեր քաղաք` եւ զդստերս իւր, եւ դառնայր ՛ի կողմանս Հրէաստանի:	5:8 And when he had taken Jazar, with the towns belonging thereto, he returned into Judea:

5:9 Եւ ժողովեցան ամենայն հեթանոսք ՛ի Գաղաադ վասն Իսրայէլի, որ էին ՛ի կողմանս նոցա, զի ջնջեսցեն զնոսա. եւ նոքա փախստեայք անկանէին յամուրսն ՛ի Դովթայիմ:	5:9 Then the heathen that were at Galaad assembled themselves together against the Israelites that were in their quarters, to destroy them; but they fled to the fortress of Dathema:

5:10 Եւ արձակեցին նոքա հրեշտակս առ Յուդա եւ առ եղբարսն` եւ ասեն. Ժողովեալ են ահաւասիկ ՛ի վերայ մեր ամենայն հեթանոսք, պատեալ պաշարեալ պնդեն զմեզ ջնջե՛լ ՛ի տեղւոջէ աստի:	5:10 And sent letters unto Judas and his brethren, The heathen that are round about us are assembled together against us to destroy us:

5:11 պատրա՛ստ են յառնուլ զամուրս յոր անկեա՛լ եմք. եւ Տիմոթէոս զօրագլո՛ւխ նոցա^[107]:	5:11 And they are preparing to come and take the fortress whereunto we are fled, Timotheus being captain of their host:

5:12 Արդ` եթէ իցէ՛ ինչ ՛ի ձեռս` արագեսցե՛ս փրկե՛լ զմեզ ՛ի ձեռաց նոցա. զի անկա՛ն բազումք ՛ի մէնջ^[108]:	5:12 Come now therefore, and deliver us from their hands, for many of us are slain:

5:13 եւ ամենայն եղբարք որ էին ՛ի Տովբա կոտորեցան. եւ ՛ի գերութեան վարեցան կանայք նոցա եւ որդիք նոցա, ամենայն կահիւ կարասեաւ իւրեանց առհասարակ կորեա՛ն նոքա, որչափ ՛ի կողմն մի աւագի հազարապետութեան միոջ:	5:13 Yea, all our brethren that were in the places of Tobie are put to death: their wives and their children also they have carried away captives, and borne away their stuff; and they have destroyed there about a thousand men:

5:14 Ա՛յն ինչ դեռ թուղթքն ՛ի ձեռին էին, ա՛յլ գուժկանք հասանէին ՛ի կողմանցն Գալիլեացւոց անտի, զօձիս պատառեալ, զճակատ հարեալ, եւ զգոյժս զա՛յս տային:	5:14 While these letters were yet reading, behold, there came other messengers from Galilee with their clothes rent, who reported on this wise:

5:15 եւ ասեն. Ժողովեցան ՛ի վերայ մեր ՛ի Պտողոմեայ, եւ ՛ի Ծուրայ, եւ ՛ի Ծայդանայ, եւ ամենայն կողմանք Գալիլեացւոց յայլազգեաց կուսէ, ջնջե՛լ զմեզ անտի:	5:15 And said, They of Ptolemais, and of Tyrus, and Sidon, and all Galilee of the Gentiles, are assembled together against us to consume us:

5:16 Եւ իբրեւ լուան զբանսն զայն` Յուդա՛ եւ ժողովուրդն, ՛ի խորհո՛ւրդ ժողովեցան վաղվաղակի. զի խորհեսցին զինչ գործ գործեսցեն վասն եղբարցն որ էին ՛ի նեղութեան, եւ ճգնին ՛ի ձեռաց պատերազմողաց^[109]:	5:16 Now when Judas and the people heard these words, there assembled a great congregation together, to consult what they should do for their brethren, that were in trouble, and assaulted of them:

5:17 Խօսե՛լ սկսաւ Յուդա ընդ Շմաւոնեայ ընդ եղբօր իւրում եւ ասէ. Ընտրեա՛ դու քեզ արս հզօրս, եւ ե՛րթ փրկել զեղբարսն որ են ՛ի նեղութեան ՛ի կողմանս Գալիլեացւոց. եւ ե՛ս եւ Յովնաթան եղբայր իմ երթիցուք ՛ի կողմանս Գաղաադու^[110]:	5:17 Then said Judas unto Simon his brother, Choose thee out men, and go and deliver thy brethren that are in Galilee, for I and Jonathan my brother will go into the country of Galaad:

5:18 Եւ եթո՛ղ անդ զՅովսեպոս Զաքարեանց, եւ զԶաքարի զօրագլուխ ընտիր ընտի՛ր զօրօք հանդերձ` յերկրին Հրէաստանի պահապանս:	5:18 So he left Joseph the son of Zacharias, and Azarias, captains of the people, with the remnant of the host in Judea to keep it:

5:19 պատուէ՛ր ետ նոցա` եւ ասէ. Առաջնորդեսջիք ժողովրդեանս այսմիկ, եւ մի՛ տայցէք դուք մա՛րտ պատերազմի ընդ հեթանոսս մինչեւ ՛ի դա՛րձ գալստեան մերոյ անտի^[111]:	5:19 Unto whom he gave commandment, saying, Take ye the charge of this people, and see that ye make not war against the heathen until the time that we come again:

5:20 Զօրահատո՛յց արարին, ընդ երկո՛ւ զզօրսն բաժանեցին. գնացին երեք հազարք ընդ Շմաւոնեայ ՛ի կողմանս Գալիլեացւոց, եւ ութ հազար յերկիրն Գաղաադու:	5:20 Now unto Simon were given three thousand men to go into Galilee, and unto Judas eight thousand men for the country of Galaad:

5:21 Եւ գնաց Շմաւոն յերկիրն Գալիլեացւոց, տա՛յր պատերազմ ընդ հեթանոսս. եւ խորտակեցան հեթանոսք առաջի երեսաց նորա. եւ հալածակա՛ն տանէր զնոսա մինչեւ ՛ի դրունս Պտողոմեայ^[112]:	5:21 Then went Simon into Galilee, where he fought many battles with the heathen, so that the heathen were discomfited by him:

5:22 Յա՛յնմ աւուր անկանէին ՛ի հեթանոսաց անտի երեք հազար վառեալք սպառազէն:	5:22 And he pursued them unto the gate of Ptolemais; and there were slain of the heathen about three thousand men, whose spoils he took:

5:23 եւ առնոյր զաւար նոցա ՛ի կողմանցն Կալիլեացւոց եւ յԱրաբաթուց, կանա՛մբք եւ որդւովք հանդերձ, եւ ամենայն կարասեաւ հանդերձ, եւ գանձի կահիւ. եւ եկին ածին զայն ամենայն ցնծութեամբ եւ ուրախութեամբ յերկիրն Հրէաստանի^[113]:	5:23 And those that were in Galilee, and in Arbattis, with their wives and their children, and all that they had, took he away with him, and brought them into Judea with great joy:

5:24 Եւ Յուդա Մակաբէ, եւ Յովնաթան եղբայր նորա անցին յա՛յն կողմն Յորդանան գետոյն, եւ գնացին երից աւուրց գնա՛ց ճանապարհի, յերկիր յանապատ:	5:24 Judas Maccabeus also and his brother Jonathan went over Jordan, and travelled three days' journey in the wilderness:

5:25 Եւ ընդառա՛ջ եղեն նոցա Նաբատացիք խաղաղութեամբ. եւ պատմէին նոցա զամենայն անցսն որ անցին ընդ եղբարսն յերկիրն Գաղաադու^[114]:	5:25 Where they met with the Nabathites, who came unto them in a peaceable manner, and told them every thing that had happened to their brethren in the land of Galaad:

5:26 Եւ բազումք ՛ի նոցանէ յաւա՛ր երթեալ էին ՛ի քաղաքս Բոսորայ, եւ Բոսաղումայ, եւ Սէփովր Մակեդեայ, եւ Զառնասպասեայ, ա՛յս քաղաքք ամուրք եւ մեծամեծք են^[115]:	5:26 And how that many of them were shut up in Bosora, and Bosor, and Alema, Casphor, Maked, and Carnaim; all these cities are strong and great:

5:27 եւ այլոց քաղաքացն ՛ի կողմանցն Գաղաադու. եւ ՛ի մի վայր միաժողո՛վ են առ վաղիւ, ժամադի՛ր են փակե՛լ պատել զամուրսն, առնուլ ջնջել սատակել զամենեսին յաւուր միում:	5:27 And that they were shut up in the rest of the cities of the country of Galaad, and that against to morrow they had appointed to bring their host against the forts, and to take them, and to destroy them all in one day:

5:28 Իբրեւ զայն լուաւ Յուդա` գո՛ւնդ կազմեաց վաղվաղակի. ճանապա՛րհ կալաւ ընդ անապատ, յանկարծակի անկանէր ՛ի վերայ Բոսորայ. յանկարծակի յաղեկարծո՛ւմ ժամու զամենայն քաղաքն ՛ի բուռն առնոյր. անդ ՛ի մի սուր սուսերի իւրոյ սպանանէր զամենայն արու մանուկ, եւ առնոյր զամենայն զաւար քաղաքին Բոսորացւոց. եւ զքաղաքն ամենայն հրձի՛գ առնէր^[116]:	5:28 Hereupon Judas and his host turned suddenly by the way of the wilderness unto Bosora; and when he had won the city, he slew all the males with the edge of the sword, and took all their spoils, and burned the city with fire:

5:29 եւ ինքն գիշերայն գնդաւն հանդերձ դիմէ՛ր ՛ի վերայ ամրոցն պաշարելոց^[117]:	5:29 From whence he removed by night, and went till he came to the fortress:

5:30 Ա՛յն ինչ կամէր առաւօտն ՛ի գիշերոյն մերկանալ, զա՛չս ՛ի վեր ամբարձին, տեսին զօրս բազումս զի ո՛չ գոյր նոցա թիւ. զի բարձեալ բերէին սանդուղխս եւ մանգլիոնս, եւ պէսպէս մենքենայս ՛ի վերայ ամրոցն, մա՛րտ եդեալ եւ ՛ի պատերա՛զմ մատուցեալ^[118]:	5:30 And betimes in the morning they looked up, and, behold, there was an innumerable people bearing ladders and other engines of war, to take the fortress: for they assaulted them:

5:31 Եւ իբրեւ ընդ ա՛յն հայեցաւ Յուդա, եւ ետես զի սկիզբն էր մարտին, անտի` աղաղակ քաղաքին, եւ աստի` զօրացն որ պաշարեալ պահէին, ձա՛յն մարտի, ձա՛յն պատերազմի, ձա՛յն փողոյ առ հասարակ յերկինս ելանէր:	5:31 When Judas therefore saw that the battle was begun, and that the cry of the city went up to heaven, with trumpets, and a great sound:

5:32 Սկսաւ խօսել ընդ զօրսն իւր` եւ ասէ. Հա՛պա, ժի՛րք լերուք, պի՛նդ կացէք. գործ` այսօ՛ր է մարտնչել ձեզ ՛ի վերայ եղբարց ձերոց^[119]:	5:32 He said unto his host, Fight this day for your brethren:

5:33 Եւ զզօրսն ամենայն յերի՛ս գունդս բաժանէր, եւ շո՛ւրջ զնոքօք ճակատեալ ՛ի մարտ մատուցանէր. փո՛ղ հարին, խրախո՛յս բարձին. գոչեցին աղօթիւք առ Աստուած, ՛ի վերայ յարձակեցան:	5:33 So he went forth behind them in three companies, who sounded their trumpets, and cried with prayer:

5:34 Ա՛զդ եղեւ Տիմոթեայ եւ զօրացն, եթէ Մակաբէ զօրօքն ՛ի վերայ հասեալ է. իբրեւ հայեցան տեսին, շրտեա՛ն լքան կասեցին, ընկեցին զիւրաքանչիւր մենքենայս, եւ ՛ի փախո՛ւստ դարձան: Եւ հարկանէր յաւուր յայնմիկ զնոսա ՛ի հարուածս սաստիկս. տանէին փախստեայս առաջի իւրեանց. մի առ միոջ դիաթաւալ կացուցանէին. արկանէին ՛ի սուր սուսերի իւրեանց իբրեւ արս ութ հարիւր հազար սպառազէն^[120]:	5:34 Then the host of Timotheus, knowing that it was Maccabeus, fled from him: wherefore he smote them with a great slaughter; so that there were killed of them that day about eight thousand men:

5:35 Եւ ինքն դառնայր ՛ի կողմն Մայափայ. մա՛րտ պատերազմի դնէր զնովաւ` եւ առնոյր զնա, եւ ՛ի նմա սպանանէր զամենայն արու մանուկ նոցա. եւ առնոյր զամենայն ինչս եւ զստացուածս նոցա յաւարի, եւ զքաղաքն այրէր հրով:	5:35 This done, Judas turned aside to Maspha; and after he had assaulted it he took and slew all the males therein, and received the spoils thereof and and burnt it with fire:

5:36 Անտի խաղայր գայր պատէր զՔասփովն Մակեթ, եւ զԲոսոր, եւ զմնացեալ քաղաքս Գաղաադու:	5:36 From thence went he, and took Casphon, Maged, Bosor, and the other cities of the country of Galaad:

5:37 Յետ ա՛յսց ժամանակաց` դարձեալ զօրաժողո՛վ լինէր Տիմոթէոս, եւ գայր բանակէր դէմ յանդիման Ռափովնայ, յայնկոյս գետոյն:	5:37 After these things gathered Timotheus another host and encamped against Raphon beyond the brook:

5:38 Դէ՛տ արձակեաց Յուդա զի տեսցէ զբանակս նոցա: Եկին պատմեցին` եւ ասեն. Միաժողո՛վ եղեն ամենայն ազգք եւ ազինք յոյժ, որ շուրջ զմեւք բանակեա՛լ են, եւ զօրք բազումք կուտեալ են յոյժ^[121]:	5:38 So Judas sent men to espy the host, who brought him word, saying, All the heathen that be round about us are assembled unto them, even a very great host:

5:39 Եւ արուայիկս բազումս ածեալ է ՛ի վարձու յօգնականութիւն իւրեանց. եւ բանակեալ են յայնկոյս գետոյն, պատրաստեալ են գա՛լ անկանել ՛ի վերայ քո: Իբրեւ զա՛յն լսէր Յուդա, նո՛յնժամայն խաղա՛յր գնայր ՛ի վերայ նոցա^[122]:	5:39 He hath also hired the Arabians to help them and they have pitched their tents beyond the brook, ready to come and fight against thee. Upon this Judas went to meet them:

5:40 Իբրեւ ետես Տիմոթէոս` խօսե՛լ կալաւ ընդ իշխանսն` եւ ասէ. Մի՛տ դիջիք դուք Յուդայ եւ գնդին նորա առ հասանել յափն գետոյն, եթէ զհասանելն եւ զանցանելն մի արասցէ` ապա մեք ո՛չ կարեմք լինել դիմակա՛լ նորա, զի յաղթելով յաղթեսցէ նա մեզ^[123]:	5:40 Then Timotheus said unto the captains of his host, When Judas and his host come near the brook, if he pass over first unto us, we shall not be able to withstand him; for he will mightily prevail against us:

5:41 Ապա թէ հասցէ յափն գետոյն եւ ճակատեսցի` յա՛յտ արար` թէ զանգիտեա՛ց, մե՛ք անցցուք մարտիցուք եւ յաղթեսցո՛ւք նմա:	5:41 But if he be afraid, and camp beyond the river, we shall go over unto him, and prevail against him:

5:42 Ա՛յն ինչ նորա բանք ՛ի բերան էին, եւ Յուդա զօրօքն հասանէ՛ր յափն գետոյն. ա՛նդ` առ ափն գետոյն կացուցանէր զաշխարհամար դպիրսն, եւ տա՛յր նոցա պատուէր, զի մի՛ զոք ամենեւին թողցեն առ ափն գետոյն բանակել. այլ զամենայն զայր պատերազմօղ զկնի նորա փողեսցեն^[124]:	5:42 Now when Judas came near the brook, he caused the scribes of the people to remain by the brook: unto whom he gave commandment, saying, Suffer no man to remain in the camp, but let all come to the battle:

5:43 Եւ ինքն զհասանելն` զանցանելն` զյարձակելն ՛ի վերայ` մի առնէր, եւ նախ զգունդն նահատակաց ՛ի ներքս բեկանէր, զզօրսն ամենայն ՛ի փախո՛ւստ դարձուցանէր. եւ ամենայն ազգք եւ ազինք զէնընկէցք փախստեա՛յ գնային յամրակողմն, ՛ի նուիրեալ տեղին մեհենին ՛ի Կառնային^[125]:	5:43 So he went first over unto them, and all the people after him: then all the heathen, being discomfited before him, cast away their weapons, and fled unto the temple that was at Carnaim:

5:44 Սոքա եկի՛ն հասին պատեցին զքաղաքն, հրձի՛գ արարին զամուրն` մեհենիւն հանդերձ. եւ Կառնային նեղէր, եւ ո՛չ կարէր հանդարտել ընդդէմ Յուդայ:	5:44 But they took the city, and burned the temple with all that were therein. Thus was Carnaim subdued, neither could they stand any longer before Judas:

5:45 Հրամա՛ն ետ Յուդա խաղացուցանել զամենայն ազգս Հրէից որ էին ՛ի կողմանս Գաղաադու, կանամբք եւ մանկտւով ամենայն կահիւ հանդերձ, ածել հասուցանել յերկիրն Հրէաստանի. եւ էին նոքա բանա՛կք մեծամեծք:	5:45 Then Judas gathered together all the Israelites that were in the country of Galaad, from the least unto the greatest, even their wives, and their children, and their stuff, a very great host, to the end they might come into the land of Judea:

5:46 Եւ եկին հասին ՛ի դուռն Եփրոն քաղաքի. եւ այս քաղաք` է՛ մեծ ՛ի վերայ ճանապարհի յամուր վայրի. եւ ո՛չ գոյր նոցա ա՛յլ ճանապարհ խոտորել յաջ կամ յահեակ, բայց երթալ ընդ մէջ քաղաքին^[126]:	5:46 Now when they came unto Ephron, ( this was a great city in the way as they should go, very well fortified) they could not turn from it, either on the right hand or the left, but must needs pass through the midst of it:

5:47 Իբրեւ տեսին զօրք քաղաքին զամբոխ զօրացն, եւ զբազմութիւն բանակացն` զդրունսն փակեցին, զդրանդսն սեղմեցին վիմօք. եւ ո՛չ տային անցանել նոցա: Իբրեւ զա՛յն ետես Յուդա. առաքեա՛ց առ նոսա բանս խաղաղութեամբ^[127]:	5:47 Then they of the city shut them out, and stopped up the gates with stones:

5:48 եւ ասէ. Թո՛յլ տուք` անցից ընդ երկիր քո, երթալ անցանել ինձ յաշխարհ իմ, եւ ո՛չ ոք ինչ մեղիցէ քեզ. բայց այնչափ որչափ ոտի՛ւք մերովք կոխեսցուք զերկիր քո: Եւ ո՛չ առին յանձն նոքա նմա բանալ զդրունսն^[128]:	5:48 Whereupon Judas sent unto them in peaceable manner, saying, Let us pass through your land to go into our own country, and none shall do you any hurt; we will only pass through on foot: howbeit they would not open unto him:

5:49 Ապա հրամա՛ն ետ Յուդա փո՛ղ հարկանել, քարո՛զ կարդալ եւ ասել. Հա՛պա` իւրաքանչիւր գունդ յորում վայրի եւ կացցէ ՛ի նե՛րքս խաղասցէ:	5:49 Wherefore Judas commanded a proclamation to be made throughout the host, that every man should pitch his tent in the place where he was:

5:50 Եւ մատեան զօրքն յիւրաքանչիւր տեղւոջ յորում կային ՛ի մա՛րտ պատերազմի, զամենայն տիւն եւ զամենայն գիշերն ՛ի մարտ, մինչեւ մատնեցաւ քաղաքն ՛ի ձեռս նոցա^[129]:	5:50 So the soldiers pitched, and assaulted the city all that day and all that night, till at the length the city was delivered into his hands:

5:51 Ա՛նդ սատակեցին զամենայն արու մանուկ նոցա ՛ի սուր սուսերի իւրեանց. խլեցին զնոսա յարմատոց, խաղացուցին զաւար քաղաքին, եւ ինքեանք անցին ընդ մէջ քաղաքին, գնային երթային ՛ի վերայ դիականցն անկելոց:	5:51 Who then slew all the males with the edge of the sword, and rased the city, and took the spoils thereof, and passed through the city over them that were slain:

5:52 եւ անցին նոքա ընդ Յորդանան գետ ՛ի տափակողմն ՛ի դաշտ մի մեծ. եւ ա՛նդ բանակեցան դէմ յանդիման Բեթսովնայ^[130]:	5:52 After this went they over Jordan into the great plain before Bethsan:

5:53 Եւ անդ յանձանձէր զկաց մնաց ժողովրդեանն, մխիթարէր զամենեսին Յուդա ընդ ամենայն չո՛ւս ճանապարհին ա՛յսպէս առնէր մինչեւ ածէր հասուցանէր յերկիրն Հրէաստանի^[131]:	5:53 And Judas gathered together those that came behind, and exhorted the people all the way through, till they came into the land of Judea:

5:54 Եւ եկին հասի՛ն ելին ՛ի լեառն Սիովն ցնծութեամբ եւ ուրախութեամբ. ա՛նդ մատուցանէին զողջակէզս եւ զպատարագս. զի ո՛չ ծախեցաւ ՛ի նոցանէ, մինչեւ եկին հասին անդրէն ՛ի տեղի իւրեանց խաղաղութեամբ^[132]:	5:54 So they went up to mount Sion with joy and gladness, where they offered burnt offerings, because not one of them were slain until they had returned in peace:

5:55 Եւ յաւուրսն յայնոսիկ է՛ր Յուդա եւ Յովնաթան յերկիրն Գաղաադու. եւ Շմաւոն եղբայր նոցա էր յերկիրն Գալիլեացւոց, յանդիման Պտղոմեայ: Իբրեւ զայն քաջութիւնս պատերազմին լսէին^[133]:	5:55 Now what time as Judas and Jonathan were in the land of Galaad, and Simon his brother in Galilee before Ptolemais:

5:56 Յովսեպոս Զաքարեանց, եւ Զաքարի իշխան զօրացն մնացելոց:	5:56 Joseph the son of Zacharias, and Azarias, captains of the garrisons, heard of the valiant acts and warlike deeds which they had done:

5:57 ասեն. Եկա՛յք եւ մե՛ք երթիցուք տացուք մարտ պատերազմի ընդ հեթանոսս որ շո՛ւրջ զմեւք են, եւ արասցուք եւ մեք մե՛զ անուն:	5:57 Wherefore they said, Let us also get us a name, and go fight against the heathen that are round about us:

5:58 Ժա՛մ ետուն զօրացն, խաղացին գնացին ՛ի կողմանս Յամնեայ:	5:58 So when they had given charge unto the garrison that was with them, they went toward Jamnia:

5:59 Եւ ե՛լ Գորգի ՛ի քաղաքէ անտի զօրօք հանդերձ որ ընդ ի՛ւր էին ՛ի մարտ պատերազմի, եւ հարա՛ւ ՛ի դիմի նոցա:	5:59 Then came Gorgias and his men out of the city to fight against them:

5:60 ՛Ի պարտութիւն մատնեցան Յովսեպոս եւ Զաքարիա, եւ հալածականս երթային մինչեւ ՛ի սահմանս երկրին Հրէաստանի: Յայնմ աւուր անկանէին ՛ի նոցանէ արք իբրեւ երկու հազարք. եւ եղեն կործանումնն այն սաստիկ ՛ի վերայ ժողովրդեանն^[134]:	5:60 And so it was, that Joseph and Azaras were put to flight, and pursued unto the borders of Judea: and there were slain that day of the people of Israel about two thousand men:

5:61 Զի ո՛չ անսացին նոքա Յուդայի եւ եղբարց նորա. խորհեցան` թէ մեք իբրեւ զնա առցուք անուն քաջութեան^[135]:	5:61 Thus was there a great overthrow among the children of Israel, because they were not obedient unto Judas and his brethren, but thought to do some valiant act:

5:62 բայց նոքա չ էի՛ն ՛ի զաւակէ անտի արանցն այնոցիկ, որոց տուեալ էր զփրկութիւն Իսրայէլի ՛ի ձեռս նոցա:	5:62 Moreover these men came not of the seed of those, by whose hand deliverance was given unto Israel:

5:63 Եւ ի՛նքն Յուդա եւ եղբարք իւր փառաւո՛ր լինէին յաչս ժողովրդեանն` առաջի ամենայն ազգաց հեթանոսաց. ուր եւ լսէին զանուն նոցա^[136]:	5:63 Howbeit the man Judas and his brethren were greatly renowned in the sight of all Israel, and of all the heathen, wheresoever their name was heard of:

5:64 ժողովէին` եւ օրհնէին զնոսա:	5:64 Insomuch as the the people assembled unto them with joyful acclamations:

5:65 Եւ ե՛լ Յուդա եղբարբքն հանդերձ, տա՛լ պատերազմ ընդ որդիսն Եսաւայ ՛ի հարաւակո՛ղմ կուսէ անդ: Ա՛նդ հարկանէր զՔեբրոն քաղաք` եւ զդստերս իւր. քակէ՛ր կործանէ՛ր զամենայն ամուրս նոցա, եւ հրձի՛գ առնէր զաշտարակս նորա շուրջանակի ուր եւ գտանէր^[137]:	5:65 Afterward went Judas forth with his brethren, and fought against the children of Esau in the land toward the south, where he smote Hebron, and the towns thereof, and pulled down the fortress of it, and burned the towers thereof round about:

5:66 Եւ ե՛լ դիմեաց գնալ նա յերկիրն այլազգեաց, գայր հասանէր ՛ի կողմ Մարիսայ:	5:66 From thence he removed to go into the land of the Philistines, and passed through Samaria:

5:67 Յաւուր յայնմիկ անկա՛ն քահանայք ՛ի պատերազմի անդ, մինչ նա դեռ կամէր քաջութիւն ինչ առնել. զի ե՛լ նա տա՛լ պատերազմ առանց խորհրդոց:	5:67 At that time certain priests, desirous to shew their valour, were slain in battle, for that they went out to fight unadvisedly:

5:68 Եւ դարձա՛ւ Յուդա ՛ի կողմն Ազովտայ յերկիրն այլազգեաց, աւերէր զմեհեանս նոցա, եւ կործանէր զկուռս նոցա, եւ հրձի՛գ առնէր զքաղաքս նոցա, ՛ի գերութեան վարէր զինչս եւ զստացուածս նոցա, եւ դառնայր գնայր յերկիրն Հրէաստանի^[138]:	5:68 So Judas turned to Azotus in the land of the Philistines, and when he had pulled down their altars, and burned their carved images with fire, and spoiled their cities, he returned into the land of Judea:
