Господь создал из земли врачества и благоразумный человек не будет пренебрегать ими. Над умершим пролей слезы, но не предавай своего сердца безмерной печали. Предаваясь обыденным занятиям и ремеслам, трудно постичь книжную мудрость и заслужить за нее почет от граждан.

38:238:2 и от Вышнего врачевание, и от царя получает он дар.38:3 Знание врача возвысит его голову, и между вельможами он будет в почете.38:4 Господь создал из земли врачевства, и благоразумный человек не будет пренебрегать ими.38:5 Не от дерева ли вода сделалась сладкою, чтобы познана была сила Его?38:6 Для того Он и дал людям знание, чтобы прославляли Его в чудных делах Его:38:7 ими он врачует {человека} и уничтожает болезнь его.38:8 Приготовляющий лекарства делает из них смесь, и занятия его не оканчиваются, и чрез него бывает благо на лице земли.38:9 Сын мой! в болезни твоей не будь небрежен, но молись Господу, и Он исцелит тебя.38:10 Оставь греховную жизнь и исправь руки твои, и от всякого греха очисти сердце.38:11 Вознеси благоухание и из семидала памятную жертву и сделай приношение тучное, как бы уже умирающий;38:12 и дай место врачу, ибо и его создал Господь, и да не удаляется он от тебя, ибо он нужен.

KJV [12] Then give place to the physician, for the Lord hath created him: let him not go from thee, for thou hast need of him:
38:2 и от Вышнего врачевание, и от царя получает он дар.
38:3 Знание врача возвысит его голову, и между вельможами он будет в почете.

7. Ими, т. е. врачествами. Ср. 4: ст.
8. И занятия его не оканчиваются, приготовлением смеси, т. е. одними научно-теоретическими опытами, но имеют и благотворное практическое значение, ибо через него, врача, бывает благо исцелений болезней человеческих на лице земли . Ср. 7: ст.

9-15. В случае болезни обратись к Господу Богу с молитвою о помиловании, принеси требуемые законом жертвы, но вместе с тем дай место врачу, ибо и его создал Господь во славу Свою и на пользу страждущему человечеству. Врач знающий и богобоязненный может послужить для болящего одним из орудий божественного милосердия о нем. Только упорный нечестивец не вправе надеяться на целебную силу богосозданных врачеваний.
38:1438:14: զի եւ նոքա զՏէր աղաչեսցեն՝ զի յաջողեսցի գործ նոցա:
18 եւ, ըստ նրա արժանիքի, մէկ-երկու օր սգա՛՝ պարսաւանքից խուսափելու համար եւ ապա մխիթարուի՛ր տրտմութիւնից,
զի եւ նոքա զՏէր աղաչեսցեն` զի յաջողեսցի գործ նոցա:

38:6. The benefits of these things is recognized by men, and the Most High has given this knowledge to men, so that he may be honored in his wonders.
38:6 And he hath given men skill, that he might be honoured in his marvellous works.
6. And he gave men skill, That they might be glorified in his marvellous works.
38:18 and use lamentation, as he is worthy, and that a day or two, lest thou be evil spoken of: and then comfort thyself for thy heaviness:

38:7. in his curans mitigavit dolorem et unguentarius facit pigmentum suavitatis et unctiones conficiet suavitatis et non consummabuntur opera eiusBy these he shall cure and shall allay their pains, and of these the apothecary shall make sweet confections, and shall make up ointments of health, and of his works there shall be no end.
38:7. By these things, he will cure or mitigate their suffering, and the pharmacist will make soothing ointments, and he will form healing medicines, and there will be no end to his works.
38:7 With such doth he heal [men], and taketh away their pains.

38:19 For of heaviness cometh death, and the heaviness of the heart breaketh strength. KJV [19] In affliction also sorrow remaineth: and the life of the poor is the curse of the heart:

38:21 Take no heaviness to heart: drive it away, and member the last end:

20. Поясняется 21–22: ст. — Вспоминая о конце, т. е. скоротечности своей жизни, не истощай свои силы безмерным сокрушением бесполезным и для тебя, и для других. Закон смерти объемлет собою все живущее на земле, и действие его не может быть приостановлено сетованиями человека. Безмерные сетования могут лишь повредить человеку, ускорив в отношении его действие страшного закона (ср. 18: ст.).

38:24. in requie mortui requiescere fac memoriam eius et consolare illum in exitu spiritus suiWhen the dead is at rest, let his remembrance rest, and comfort him in the departing of his spirit.
38:24. When the deceased is at rest, let his memory rest also. And console him at the departure of his spirit.
38:24 The wisdom of a learned man cometh by opportunity of leisure: and he that hath little business shall become wise.
24. The wisdom of the scribe cometh by opportunity of leisure; And he that hath little business shall become wise.
38:39 But they will maintain the state of the world, and [all] their desire is in the work of their craft:
