6:1 Եւ Անտիոքոս կայսր` գնա՛յր նա ընդ վերնագաւառսն. ապա լո՛ւ եղեւ նմա եթէ է՛ քաղաք մի ՛ի կողմանս Ղիմնեայ ՛ի Պարսից աշխարհին, քաղաք փառաւո՛ր, լի՛ ոսկւով եւ արծաթով[139]:

6:1 1. And king Antiochus was journeying through the upper countries; and he heard say, that in Elymais in Persia there was a city renowned for riches, for silver and gold;
6:1 About that time king Antiochus travelling through the high countries heard say, that Elymais in the country of Persia was a city greatly renowned for riches, silver, and gold: |
6:2 եւ մեհեանն որ ՛ի նմա, է՛ մեծագանձ յոյժ, եւ կուռք ոսկեղէնք ձուլածոյք մեծամեծք ՛ի նմա: Ա՛ռ նա` զէն բազում, զրահք եւ պատեանք որ թողեալ էր Աղէքսանդրի կայսեր Մակեդոնացւոց, որ թագաւորեաց նախ ՛ի վերայ Յունաց աշխարհին[140]:

6:2 2. and that the temple which was in it was rich exceedingly, and that therein were golden shields, and breastplates, and arms, which Alexander, son of Philip, the Macedonian king, who reigned first among the Greeks, left behind there.
6:2 And that there was in it a very rich temple, wherein were coverings of gold, and breastplates, and shields, which Alexander, son of Philip, the Macedonian king, who reigned first among the Grecians, had left there: |

6:3 3. And he came and sought to take the city, and to pillage it; and he was not able, because the thing was known to them of the city,

6:4 ՛ի մա՛րտ պատերազմի պատրաստեցան, եւ ո՛չ ետուն մտանել: Զահի՛ հարաւ` խաղա՛ց գնաց ՛ի կողմանցն արեւելից յերկիրն Բաբելացւոց:

6:4 4. and they rose up against him to battle: and he fled, and removed thence with great heaviness, to return unto Babylon.

6:5 Ա՛նդր գուժկան հասանէր առ կայսր Անտիոքոս ՛ի կողմանցն հարաւոյ, թէ ՛ի պարտութիւն մատնեցան զօրքն` որ ելեալ էին յերկիրն Հրէաստանի[141]:

6:5 5. And there came one bringing him tidings into Persia, that the armies, which went against the land of Judah, had been put to flight;

6:6 Զի չոգաւ զառաջին նուագն Լիւսի զօրօք բազմօք, եւ ՛ի պարտութիւն մատնեցաւ յերեսաց նոցա: Զօրացան զինուք, զօրօք եւ լցան աւարաւ բազմաւ, կոտորեցին զբանակս նոցա. զինչս եւ զստացուածս նոցա ՛ի գերութիւն վարեցին:

6:6 6. and that Lysias went first with a strong host, and was put to shame before them; and that they had waxed strong by reason of arms and power, and with store of spoils, which they took from the armies that they had cut off;
6:6 And that Lysias, who went forth first with a great power was driven away of the Jews; and that they were made strong by the armour, and power, and store of spoils, which they had gotten of the armies, whom they had destroyed: |
6:7 զմեհեանս աւերեցին. զկուռս կործանեցին որ շինեալ էր ՛ի վերայ սեղանոյն յԵրուսաղէմ, եւ զսրբութիւնն փակեցին պարսպօք բարձրութեան որպէս զառաջինն, եւ ընդ նմին զքաղաքն Բեթսուր[142]:

6:7 7. and that they had pulled down the abomination which he had built upon the altar that was in Jerusalem; and that they had compassed about the sanctuary with high walls, as before, and Bethsura, his city.

6:8 8. And it came to pass, when the king heard these words, he was astonished and moved exceedingly: and he laid him down upon his bed, and fell sick for grief, because it had not befallen him as he looked for.

6:10 10. And he called for all his Friends, and said unto them, Sleep departeth from mine eyes, and my heart faileth for care.

6:11 Խօսեցա՛յ ընդ սրտի իմում եւ ասեմ. Ցո՛ր վայր նեղութեանց հասանես, եւ խռովութեան բազմի, յորում այժմիկ պաշարեալ կամ. զի քաղցր եւ բարերար եւ սիրելի՛ էի զօրաց իմոց[145]:

6:11 11. And I said in my heart, Unto what tribulation am I come, and how great a flood is it, wherein I now am! for I was gracious and beloved in my power.

6:12 Արդ` յո՛ւշ եղեն ինձ չարիքն այն` զոր գործեցի ես յԵրուսաղէմ, եւ առի ես զամենայն սպասն զայն զոսկւոյ եւ զարծաթոյ, եւ զօ՛րս եւս գումարեցի տարապարտուց ՛ի վերայ նոցա ջնջե՛լ զնոսա:

6:12 12. But now I remember the evils which I did at Jerusalem, and that I took all the vessels of silver and gold that were therein, and sent forth to destroy the inhabitants of Judah without a cause.

6:15 15. and gave him his diadem, and his robe, and his signet ring, to the end he should bring Antiochus his son, and nourish him up that he might be king.

6:20 20. And they were gathered together, and besieged them in the hundred and fiftieth year, and he made mounds to shoot from, and engines of war.

6:22 եւ գնացին նոքա առ արքայն եւ ասեն. Մինչեւ յե՞րբ ո՛չ արասցես դու զդատաստանն, եւ զվրէ՛ժ խնդրեսցես եղբարցն մերոց:

6:22 22. And they went unto the king, and said, How long wilt thou not execute judgement, and avenge our brethren?

6:23 մեք հաւանեալ եմք ծառայել հօր քում, եւ երթալ զհետ հրամանաց նորա:

6:23 23. We were willing to serve thy father, and to walk after his words, and to follow his commandments;

6:24 Եւ նստէին զնովաւ որդիք ժողովրդեան մերոյ, վասն այսորիկ օտարանային բազումք ՛ի մէնջ. բայց զոր գտանէին ՛ի մէնջ` մահո՛ւ մեռուցանէին, եւ ժառանգութիւնք մեր ՛ի յափշտակութիւն մատնէին[150]:

6:24 24. and for this cause the children of our people besieged the citadel, and were alienated from us; but as many of us as they could light on they slew, and spoiled our inheritances.
6:24 For which cause they of our nation besiege the tower, and are alienated from us: moreover as many of us as they could light on they slew, and spoiled our inheritance: |
6:25 Եւ ո՛չ ՛ի մեզ միայն ձե՛ռս մխեցին, այլ եւ յամենայն սահմանս իւրեանց[151]:

6:26 26. And, behold, they are encamped this day against the citadel at Jerusalem, to take it: and the sanctuary and Bethsura have they fortified.

6:27 Եւ եթէ ո՛չ վա՛ղ աճապարեսջիք` եւ՛ս մեծամեծ ինչ քան զայս գործիցեն, եւ դուք զառաջս ո՛չ կարիցէք ունել:

6:27 27. And if ye are not beforehand with them quickly, they will do greater things than these, and thou shalt not be able to control them.
6:27 Wherefore if thou dost not prevent them quickly, they will do the greater things than these, neither shalt thou be able to rule them: |
6:28 Իբրեւ զայն լուաւ թագաւորն` բարկացա՛ւ յոյժ, հրամայեաց կոչել զբարեկամս իւր, եւ զիշխանս որ ՛ի վերայ զօրացն էին:

6:28 28. And when the king heard this, he was angry, and gathered together all his Friends, rulers of his host, and them that were over the horse.

6:30 30. And the number of his forces was a hundred thousand footmen, and twenty thousand horsemen, and two and thirty elephants trained for war.

6:31 31. And they went through Idumaea, and encamped against Bethsura, and fought against it many days, and made engines of war; and they came out, and burned them with fire, and fought valiantly.

6:32 Չուեա՛ց խաղաց գնաց Յուդա ՛ի միջնաբերդ ամրոցէ անտի, եւ եկն բանակեցաւ ՛ի Բեթսակարիա, դէմ յանդիման բանակի արքային[155]:

6:32 32. And Judas removed from the citadel, and encamped at Bethzacharias, over against the king’s camp.

6:33 Կանխեա՛ց ընդ առաւօտն թագաւորն, ա՛ռ զբանակն` տարա՛ւ բանակեցոյց ՛ի միջոյ անտի ըստ ճանապարհին Բեթսակարիա. եւ զզօրսն սփռեա՛ց ճակատեցոյց ՛ի մա՛րտ պատերազմի. փո՛ղ հարին:

6:33 33. And the king rose early in the morning, and removed his army at full speed along the road to Bethzacharias, and his forces made them ready to battle, and sounded with the trumpets.
6:33 Then the king rising very early marched fiercely with his host toward Bathzacharias, where his armies made them ready to battle, and sounded the trumpets: |
6:34 կազմեցին պատրաստեցին զփիղսն` ճաշակեցուցին յարիւն խաղողոյ, ՛ի զմո՛ւռս եւ ՛ի գինիս[156]:

6:34 34. And they shewed the elephants the blood of grapes and mulberries, that they might prepare them for the battle.

6:35 Եւ կարգեցա՛ն բաշխեցին ՛ի գունդս գունդս. եւ կարգեցին առ փի՛ղ փիղ հազա՛ր հազա՛ր այր սպառազէն. եւ պահապան գլուխ գնդիցն հինգ հազար հեծեալ վառեալ նժո՛յգ ՛ի ձեռն պաշտպան գնդիցն:

6:35 35. And they divided the beasts among the phalanxes, and they set by each elephant a thousand men armed with coats of mail, and helmets of brass on their heads; and for each beast were appointed five hundred chosen horsemen.

6:36 36. These were ready beforehand, wheresoever the beast was; and whithersoever the beast went, they went with him; they departed not from him.

6:37 Եւ վանդակակապ մարտկոցս մենքենայիւք ՛ի վերայ փղացն կազմեցին, եւ զփղապանն ՛ի վերայ գլխոյն նստուցին:

6:37 37. And towers of wood were upon them, strong covered, one upon each beast, girt fast upon him with cunning contrivances; and upon each were two and thirty valiant men that fought upon them, beside his Indian
6:37 And upon the beasts were there strong towers of wood, which covered every one of them, and were girt fast unto them with devices: there were also upon every one two and thirty strong men, that fought upon them, beside the Indian that ruled him: |
6:38 եւ զայլ այրուձին յա՛ջ եւ յահեակ թեւ՛ս գնդին կազմեցին:

6:38 38. (and the residue of the horsemen he set on this side and that side at the two parts of the army), striking terror and protected by the phalanxes.
6:38 As for the remnant of the horsemen, they set them on this side and that side at the two parts of the host giving them signs what to do, and being harnessed all over amidst the ranks: |
6:39 Իբրեւ անտի արեգակն ծա՛յրս արձակէր, առ հասարակ ՛ի զրահաւոր պատենազէն պղնձապատ վահանացն նշոյլքն զլերամբքն փայլատակէին, եւ ճառագայթք հատանէին իբրեւ ՛ի փայլատակա՛նց հրոյ[158]:

6:39 39. Now when the sun shone upon the shields of gold and brass, the mountains shone therewith, and blazed like torches of fire.

6:40 40. And a part of the king’s army was spread upon the high mountains, and some on the low ground, and they went on firmly and in order.

6:41 եւ խաղային յառաջ` առ հասարակ կարգեալք եւ կազմեալք. միաբան շարժէին առ հասարակ ամենեքին որ լսէին զձայն բարբառոյ բազմութեանն, զշաչիւն զինու, զշառաչիւն զերիվարացն թնդիւն, զոտնաձայն վահանաւոր վառելոցն[160]:

6:41 41. And all that heard the noise of their multitude, and the marching of the multitude, and the rattling of the arms, did quake: for the army was exceeding great and strong.

6:42 Ե՛կն եհա՛ս Յուդա իւրով գնդաւն, կարգեցա՛ւ կազմեցա՛ւ ճակատեցա՛ւ պատրաստեցա՛ւ, յարձակեցաւ, ՛ի դիմի՛ հարաւ գնդի թագաւորին. յա՛յնմ տեղւոջ յանդիման թագաւորին` վեց հարիւր հեծեալ սպառազէն դիթաւա՛լ կացուցանէր յանդիման թագաւորին[161]:

6:42 42. And Judas and his army drew near for battle, and there fell of the king’s army six hundred men.

6:43 յա՛յնմ վայրի դէտ ա՛կն ՛ի վե՛ր ամբառնայր: Եղիազա՛ր Աւարան տեսանէր մի ՛ի գազանաց անտի վառեա՛լ զարդարեալ, ՛ի զէն արքունի վառեալ` եւ նշանս արձակեալ, համարեցաւ թէ արքա՛յն իսկ ՛ի նմին իցէ:

6:43 43. And Eleazar, who was Avaran, saw one of the beasts armed with royal breastplates, and he was higher than all the beasts, and the king seemed to be upon him;
6:43 Eleazar also, surnamed Savaran, perceiving that one of the beasts, armed with royal harness, was higher than all the rest, and supposing that the king was upon him: |
6:44 Յարձակեցաւ ՛ի վերայ գնդին` յա՛ջ յահեակ կոտորեաց, չոգա՛ւ մինչեւ եհաս ՛ի փի՛ղ անդր նշանաւոր, զէ՛ն վերացոյց[162]:

6:44 44. and he gave himself to deliver his people, and to get him an everlasting name;
6:44 Put himself in jeopardy, to the end he might deliver his people, and get him a perpetual name: |
6:45 եւ եմուտ ՛ի ներքոյ, եհար` եւ անդէն կործանեաց:

6:45 45. and he ran upon him courageously into the midst of the phalanx, and slew on the right hand and on the left, and they parted asunder from him on this side and on that.
6:45 Wherefore he ran upon him courageously through the midst of the battle, slaying on the right hand and on the left, so that they were divided from him on both sides: |
6:46 եւ է՛ջ նստաւ փիղն ՛ի վերայ` եւ զնա անդէն ճմլեաց:

6:46 46. And he crept under the elephant, and thrust him from beneath, and slew him; and fell to the earth upon him, and he died there.
6:46 Which done, he crept under the elephant, and thrust him under, and slew him: whereupon the elephant fell down upon him, and there he died: |
6:47 Նոքա իբրեւ տեսին զզօրութիւն զօրաց թագաւորին` խո՛յս ետուն ՛ի նոցանէ:

6:47 47. And they saw the strength of the kingdom, and the fierce onset of the hosts, and turned away from them.
6:47 Howbeit the rest of the Jews seeing the strength of the king, and the violence of his forces, turned away from them: |
6:48 Սակայն յոր կողմ եւ գային, ընդ առա՛ջ լինէին նոցա գունդքն արքունի, մինչեւ եկին ՛ի կողմանս Երուսաղեմի: Եւ եկն արքայն եւ բանակեցան ՛ի Հրէաստանի, եւ ՛ի լեառնն Սիոն:

6:48 48. But they of the king’s army went up to Jerusalem to meet them, and the king encamped toward Judaea, and toward mount Sion.

6:49 Եւ խօսեցաւ նա ՛ի հաշտութիւն խաղաղութեան Բեթսովր քաղաքին. եւ ելին սփռեցան նոքա ՛ի քաղաքէ անտի, զի ո՛չ գոյին նոցա անդ համբարք. զի բազում ժամանակաց արգելեալ պաշարեալ էին. եւ ամն իսկ ընդ աշխարհն շաբա՛թ դիպեցաւ:
